I bought a 2006 SRT-10, regular cab, from a dealer in Nebraska. I'm flying to pick it up next week, and driving it back to New York.

The truck is a regular cab/6 speed, with the navigation system and the factory tonneau cover. It has 1,200 miles on it, and it has a clean carfax report. The dealer told me it was locally sold, owned, and traded in. They've changed the oil for me and took it out for a test ride, and didn't fnd anything wrong. It has the Navigation disk, spare/tools, manuals, and extra key/fob.

The dealer has been great to work with, I'm just wondering if there's anything in particular I need to look out for, since I'm going to basically jump in and drive it a thousand miles to get home.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Check the clutch and it's entire hydraulic system....

If you can, swap the hydraulics for the Viper coupe system...

Heat sheild the clutchlines, too..........

D

Just check all the fluid levels and tire pressure..check the oil cooler lines for leaks....of course you should look it over before signing the papers...it is a used vehicle so anything could be wrong but you probably will have no trouble....check to see what factory warranty is left if you havent..if the in service date (not the build date) is less than 3 yrs you will have some warranty....mine is a 2006 and the warranty ends next month.....congrats on the purchase...

Check your disposable income...it is about to be obligated to the Modification Fever!:burnout: :burnout:

Bullshit on and on....

Seriously, check for leaks on the steering hoses and oil cooler lines. Get under the truck and look at the bell housing area. Look for hydraulic fluid(clutch) leaks. Test drive the truck if possible. Rev the truck to about 5 grand and shift fast. If you can shift easily to the next gear up to 3rd your cool. Also, shift the truck to first and reverse at idle. Make sure the gears engage easily and you don't have to force the shifter. If all of this is good, then buy it!!!! Buy it quickly because if none of this pops up, it's a rare truck!!!
My truck is an 04 with 11k miles. It had clutch problems at 9k miles and I've watched and babied it ever since. I will eventuall replace the slave but for now, I feel it is premature.

I'm approaching 100K on my 05. As others pointed out...oil exchanger lines and HP steering pump line. If not leaking now they will...sooner than you'd expect. See stinker and order replacements ready for you back home. Do it now or do it later your call but you will be doing it!

Clutch is weak but if you don't feather it like a girl and just let it out then slam the throttle it'll last just fine...I'm still on my original. You'll want to keep fresh fluid. Every oil change I Vacuum out the clutch resv and add new fluid. Takes all of 2 min.

Be sure and check how she shifts into Rev. Stock fluid makes for a stiff tranny when cold but you should be able to go 1st to Rev easily. Our 6sp has plastic pads on the shift forks that can't handle abuse. Many switched to alternative fluid...I kept with stock Mopar.

When you get tired of cleaning your rims every 50 miles or your wife winces from the brake squeal think Zeckhausen Racing. I've gotten over 60K on their front rotors and pads all the way around. Stock lasted 20K and EBC Greens were half done by 30K.

I've had six sets of tires and so far Yoko Prada SpecX have been heads and shoulders above the others.

Use Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner on your steering wheel at each wash. Mine still looks good while most others began peeling by 20K miles.

Lots of tasteful mods available....enjoy!
