Are All Jacks created equal

I need to pickup a jack... was at pep-boys.... and I dunno for 100 bucks they seemed kinda cheezy... looked at the costco one... looked decent...

thoughts??? I need a good floor jack...

I have a Craftsman that I love! It is made for SUV's and pickups.

It goes up super fast until it hits the frame, then it goes up normally. Very nice!

It doesn't appear on their website but I got mine there -- lift is max of 17 inches and built like a brick shithouse -- weighs about 55+ lbs -- low profile -- was $69.00 - no stands though but I already have those -

Whatever you do dont buy one of those cheap aluminum so called racing jacks. I bought one on ebay, assembled it, lifted a Dakota, and then threw it in the garbage because it was super unstable. Get a good heavy steel at least 3ton jack.

I have the all allumium one from Costco.. it gets hauled out to dunes and thrown in the sand, its now 4 years old... been through hell works like it was the day it was new... I think I paid $129.00 for it... Its made my AllTrade.

I went through two Craftsman SUV jacks, both of them ended up blowing out the hydraulic cylinders. Now I use a Matco "Beast", I'm not sure if 3 1/2 tons is the rating, or an approximation of how much the thing weighs!! Same lifetime warranty as Snap-On, and doesn't cost much more than the Sears crap.
