"Hello Carlo",....... You can visit anytime Scotty. It's really remarkable how some of this stuff gets done! Next edition, "Mags, the European Tour"TREKER said:What's great is many of Mag's enemies know about these pipes as well. Actually it was probably the last vision they had.
I have to stop by and see that shit Joey. Literally.
Another point of interest, this pipe is after the pump station which screens out most of the larger undisolved solids. (Leaves, plastics, sanitary napkins, Coney Island white fish (condoms), discarded money, etc. You can just imagine what might make it's way into a City sewer. That's a separate field trip for you Scotty. The reason is, most of these things only hinder the treatment process, which is largely biological in nature. By the way, the treatment center is just north of the bridge right off the Belt.ohiosrt10 said:That can hold alot of pressurized flowing poo.. Congrats!
Well, the fresh water source for NYC are the reservoirs just north of the city, which empty into a 12 foot tunnel. The City is now in the process of adding a third tunnel, currently under construction, scheduled for completion around 2020.viperhauler said:and i thought it was fun puttin in the 12" "upgraded" waterlines a few months ago!
Thanks Wifey.Wifey said:Nice, Joey:rock:
Thanks Roy, your too kind. Most don't think about my "end" of the business. But think about this, where would all this effluent go, if we didn't direct it somewhere and treat it? There are 14 sewage treatment plants, and about 110 pumping stations (one right by nystev) in the City. The largest (Newtown Creek) handles about 350 million gallons a day. That's one plant. Think of all the pipe, pumps, and controls, to get it there, safely.Prof said:Love this thread.
More should post up about their work...we can all learn...
I spent an evening with Joe and his partner. Over dinner Christine (a chemist and a member of the "C" suite in her organization) and I sat in amazement as our two friends talked and explained the role of water in NYC...I felt like I was back in grad school with one of my most interesting professors...I was literally sitting on the edge of my chair...drawing on the table cloths, and enthralled.
Post up your expertise friends...lets learn!
(Don't rat me out Mikey). My business is "disposal", at some level.!TheSickness said:Nice cover Joey![]()
