AT THE OFFICE.

I'm up for din din in nyc with you boys. Let's put something together. For Mags and Prof, we'll call it the GGTG. Geritol Get ToGether. ;)

Have a nice dinner (early bird special of course) @ 3pm, followed by a nice helping of Metamucil. You boys should be asleep by 5:30-6pm the latest. :D

PS. John, I have a confession,......... I have cursed to high Heaven, many an engineer. I'm truely sorry. But,....... it ALWAYS looks GREAT on PAPER.:p

If it makes you feel any better, I have done the same thing at times.

Maybe sometime I will go into how I feel my profession has degraded over the years with the advent of computer aided drafting. To me it's sad.

I'm really hoping that they will be announcing sometime this Summer what I have been working on for the last 3+ years. It will be nice to talk about it.

Heyyy...I think CAD is great for visualization, and alot faster than hand drawing shit...I know..People end up becoming computer stupid, so I get your drift there. In the right hands though you can do some pretty cool stuff with some of the programs out there. Add in programs like MatLab, or Labview, and and others, and theres not a whole lot you cant model, and simulate before you start cutting metal..Without CAD, I dont think we would have come as far as we have in developing new stuff..just a design pukes opinion..If you ask me, I think the enginnering curriculum these days is where some of the problem lies.
While my classes to this point have been basic in nature, they sure arent teaching me much of what I dont already know..But give me a computer over a slide rule any day..lol

I Thought I would share a couple of pics. A quick peek into my life, and how I earn my living. This is a 48" forcemain (pipe for sewage under pressure) headed to the nearest treatment center in Brooklyn. The bridge in the background is the Verrazano and the roadway is the Belt Parkway. The tee is a 48" x 30", (discount if you mention the VTCoA) cut in after the pipe had been buried, eventually for air release. Air is not good when pumping liquids. There is much I could add, but I figured most of you would be asleep by now anyway.
kick ass Job bo:rock:

I used to haul alot of those from company called redvalve in nc:D

yessir, used to uh, hootchie the secretary there:D :D :D :D

I didnt live far from there, its a small place , but right off interstate 85

Ok Joe let me see if I understand this. You are installing tees the purpose of which would be to install high pressure blow off valves right? So my question is which way are you aiming them? Not at the parkway I hope! Alsois this method approved by the DEP?:D

This will eventually become an "air release" manhole, not blow off. I'll try and get more pics as the structure is finished. The real innovation here is the fact that, the contractor didnot want to stop installing the pipe while the City decided to add more manholes. We offered this innovative product that could be "cut in" after the fact, to make the tee flanged connections, thereby not stopping the jobs progress. (Time is money). PS, nothing gets installed UNTIL it's approved by the DEP. It took almost 6 months for an answer on our suggested method and equipment. (I just hope it passes the pressure test):p That is why we visited the jobsite. We wanted to be sure this was installed correctly.:D
