Actually wasn't sure exactly where your shot was but I was out there and took a few pics on Sat. The lot to the right was closed so maybe thats where you were.

I dug this thread up, because I felt I owed everybody the pics of the completed "air release manhole". It's the weekend, and if anybody is looking for a little thrill, read no further:p If you revisit the original pics in this thread, you can see how the final construction took place. This is an ARI all stainless steel, air release valve made ONLY for the City. (I know this isn't as interesting as a "glad someone died" thread). I just felt for all of you who were waiting anxiously for the final installment, I needed to add this post. The valve under the air valve is a butterfly valve, to isolate the air valve for future maintenance. All that's left to do is secure a frame and cover over the opening. P.S. There are approximately 30 of these air release installations along the pipeline, on it's way to the treatment center. The last pic is the happy contractor and the bridge in the background that links Brooklyn to Staten Island. The treatment center is just north of the bridge. If this has been too much excitement for one day, please nap at your own discretion.

I was a little concerned about using the appropriate names for these structures, but felt the vast sophistication and maturity of the members on this site was enough to avoid the obvious sophomoric attempts at humor. Thanks Riffster!!:D :D :p

No LD's Scott. Just hope I get paid some day. You can Show Mr. Zuzzolo these pics.:p

The City and most engineers are in love with stainless steel. Given the content of the pipe, it is probably a good idea.

It's been some time since I bored everyone with a peek into my world.:bebored: Here is an article (link below) about a project we are heavily involved in. If you have time and know the area in Brooklyn (google Gowanus Canal),take a moment, to read about this fascinating construction project. We were lucky enough to sell to the contractor the dewatering pumps, the interim (temporary) pumps, the permanent sewage pumps, and the, flushing tunnel propeller pumps. :deal: We also are supplying the instrumentation and controls for this job, and, yes Denise, the pipe. As always, with the City, things take a lot of time. The coincidence is the two other jobs mentioned in the article we also are currently working .... The pictures at the start of this thread are from Ave V. (mentioned in the article). The Jamaica Treatment Center is on the east side of JFK airport right off the Belt Parkway. We are supplying the same type of equipment here, as well. Anybody who travels that road can tell you there is a treatment center nearby.:toilet: Roy, if you (or anyone) find you way east, and have a burning desire to tour any of these projects, I will be your personal guide. As usual, the sh$t keeps flowin":p

I usually stay inside the City line. There are times when I go "north" because of the relationship to the reservoir system. (dude?) This is a first.:) The projects my company usually gets involved with is with water, AFTER you have had your way with it.:p

Speaking of peeing...

Those of you who love Russian River Wines from California...you are consuming my urine...my parents used to send me to Geyserville and Healdsburg for the summer... I chuckle every time I see a Russian River Wine...and now I bet you will think twice about them too, enjoy!
