Hey fellas,

I have an '04 RC with a K&N, Magnaflow, and B&G stage II. If I upgrade to a set of X-Metal's shorty or Mopar's long tube headers, will I need to get my B&G reflashed or will the stage II programming be good?

TIA,
Jim

Should still be fine....The only exhaust mod I had to tweak my tune on was the mids.

You could always dyno before and after to see what you gained and double check the A/F ;)

Thanks for the replies. Think I'll order up a set of Boomer's shorties and his shifter.

i have the same setup with no cats, i wonder if mone needs to be looked at.

its always been running rich out the tail pipes, would need a dyno to check it im sure, not one close to me.

Where in AL. do you live? XXX Motorsports is in Pensacola, FL. That's where I get mine dyno'd.

Well hell man give me a shout out the next time you are over here.

I think you will be fine with the stage 2. Now you could put on the headers then get a dyno run with A/F. Then see where you are sitting. Normal A/F is 14-16. If you are still in that range then no more tuning is needed. That doesn't mean you won't benefit from some further tuning. Just means it depends on how much time and effort you want to put in to squeeze a few more HP out of the beast.

A good a/f ratio on a NA motor is 13.1, and with a power adder is should be 11.5-12.0. I would be very worried if my a/f was anything higher than 13.4-13.5 on a NA motor. I suspect these run real rich from the factory (low 12's) I am getting dynoed in a couple weeks and I'll see where mine is stock.

I have a wide band A/F and I'm 14-16 under normal driving. Richer under boost. I was told 14-16 for normal driving and 11.6 for under boost. But I'm only going by what I was told. I'm not a tuner so your numbers could be right, but I think mid 13's is fairly rich for N/A.

11.6 under boost is about perfect, and 13.1 at full throttle on a NA motor is about perfect. Some tuners will push it and run a NA motor at 13.3-13.5 but I wouldnt want my car/truck that lean. Under normal driving a/f seems to be all over the place on all vehicles. So who ever tuned your truck did a good job if it holds 11.6-11.8 up top.

You know the more I think about it I'm not sure where I got 14-16 from. And I'm no where close to 11.6 under boost. I'm 10.0 or richer. I had big plans for some much needed tuning but I have been delayed. Maybe I confused 14-16 with 12-14. I don't know.
