B&M Shifter Question

Yesterday I picked up a B&M shifter for my 06 RC. The kit comes with a gasket used to seal the shifter body/transmission opening. My question is: is this gasket worth using or is another sealing method recommended/prefered?

Man i used the gasket and have had no problems at all. You are gonna love it!
