I just installed the shifter about 2 days ago and it doesnt feel right to me. I am having trouble getting it into first occasionally and also reverse. I double checked all the bolts just incase they were loose but I had no luck. Also I was wondering the clutch does it generally grab high?

did you leave the bolts loose and run it through the gears a few times before you tightened down the base on the shifter????

It sounds like your clutch is not fully disengaging of draging.

+1

i think you will need to check fluid level in reservoir... always good to flush it with new fluid

Ill check that out to the trucks new so Im just figuring everything out. Thanks for all the help. Also i use dot 3 right and if its low dont top it off right, it would be better to drain and bleed it right?

Before you removed the old Hurst, did you make sure it was positioned in neutral before you removed it? The B&M instructions suggest the old shifter be positioned in neutral to facilitate reassembly of the new B&M. I would also try the suggestions already made herein.

Yes the clutches on these trucks suck IMO. They do grab way too high. If your still using the stock clutch, seriously, get a new clutch(Centerforce or equivellent), and MOST IMPORTANTLY, do the viper hydrolics upgrade. This in itself will compliment the B&M, and honestly, the entire clutch system will feel 10000% better than it does now. I have said it many times before and I am starting to sound like a broken record, but the hydros upgrade is the single most important mod you can do. You will get your power to the ground faster and massively more efficiently. If your stock clutch is still grabbing strong, I guess you can wait on the clutch. If your stock clutch feel spongy, or doesnt give you a good "Yank" every time you let out hard, by all means buy a good clutch. But, do the hydrolics upgrade NOW. Dont even question my advice, JUST DO IT. You will not be sorry.

You will pick up half a second at the track going from a spongy stocker to a new Centerforce with hydros upgrade guaranteed.

On the shifter, do what 505 said, otherwise do the clutch/hyros, and the shifter will magically feel like it should.

yea i think that is what I will do. Does anyone have one laying around or anything i could buy. If not im going to go through jmb. Also I havnt installed a clutch yet on a car like this or the upgraded clutch parts. Is there anyone in lower ny who has that would be willing to help me out with the install.

What a coincidence. I'm getting a bit tired of my X-Metal Gen II shifter. I noticed at higher RPM's my shifter makes noise and I hate it. At any gear it makes some level of noise though. Where could I get a B&M shifter from? Do the B&M's make noise? Any pictures? Are they better than the older X-Metals?

You may also need to upgrade to a better lever from Cherry Performance.

your shifter isnt the prob, its the clutch, you have one or two probs, one the clutch is going bad
or you need to bleed and flush the fluid system

try the latter first, if that dont fix, try the second

but the shifter isnt the cause.

best place to get a shifter if theya re still available is atlantic speed, rock hill sc

was your clutch like this before you put the shifter in?? if it wasnt it seems like a coincidence that the clutch starts acting up when you changed the shifter!!!!thats why i would do what i said first and then deal with the clutch Justin @ JMB Performance got me my B&M shifter if you tell him Dom sent you you will get a good deal!!!!!!
