So for christmas my fiance wanted to get me the dog i've always wanted, a rottweiler puppy. She started looking in october and we found one just before thanksgiving, an early christmas present. So he was 9 weeks old and just adorable. After a month he went outside because he had doubled in size and was too big to be in the house. When i got up on Sunday i couldnt find him and nobody had seen him since the day before. Now i've been sulking for two days and feel like sh!t. :( The only thing we can come up with is someone stole him. Our local vet said that there was another puppy stoled just down the road from our house this weekend. I dont understand some people.:dontknow:
Now im going to build a big cage to keep one in and put padlocks on the gate. Any one know of any cheap, being we had quite a bit tide up in Apollo(my puppy), rott pups in the houston area? Just thought id ask?

JMHO, but if you're going to get a dog and put him outside, in a cage, all by himself (most of the time), why bother?

Why not look for a smaller breed that can stay in the house most of the time?

I realize everyone has a different situation, but it just seems kinda sad for the dog to be alone so much.:dontknow:

someone has been steeling pit puppies around here. i better not catch them at my house.

thats really sucks man when i was like 13 i caught a guy stealing a power washer from my nieghbor and the next day someone had poisoned my dog with anti-freeze there was nothing we could do :( but i know how you feel it sucks to lose a dog sorry to hear that

Sorry for you guy, keep your eyes open, I've seen all different kinds of dogs for sale by owners in parking lots in the AZ area.

Check out Craigslist, but i agree no cage for the dog to easy to just say i will play with him tomorrow. Get two dogs if they are going to stay out side all the time. As for to big to stay inside just takes training buddy of mine kept his 130+lbs Neapolitan mastiff in the house you would never know he was there and i kept 80 lbs [FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]American Staff in thehouse for 10 years, not like i had a choice once he made up his mind he wanted to stay inside. Did the puppy have the micro chip ?? I believe this is a good investment in any dog or cat ! Any dog pound or vet checks puppies for their chip if in doubt and then you would know who took it....some people get very upset when they see Rottweillers or Pit Bulls because their breeds are not allowed in many city limits and they have a bad reputation that they bite children, I don't know if this is all true or not BUT they do have strong jaws and are known to not let go easily if they get a smaller dog they aren't happy with....my $.02

When i was a little kid we had a couple and we keep them in the cage, and when ever we were outside we would let them out and run around. Idunno though. As for the microchip when he went to the vet on friday(the day before he went missing) the vet had givin me the brochure about it and we were looking it over. Now i think it might be a worthy investment on the next.

Definitely get the microchip!!!! As for inside/outside, dogs are pack animals and want to be with the pack. My black lab is an inside dog too! We try to get him to stay outside but he doesn't like it out there. I guess he is afraid of the Sun, the moon, or bugs???:D

I am sorry about Apollo...hopefully you have better luck next time!!!

Sorry about your dog.But how is a rott to big for a house? I live in a townhouse with 2 mastiffs, yea I spend alot of time in the basement, HammerHead is right how about a smaller breed. Bullmastiff, or find a smaller rott. Keep looking around your neighbor hood more then likely it is someone around you,Had a few pupps snatched when I was a kid thats why my dogs stay in when I am gone plus. Try and break In you got 320 lbs of beast on your ass:marchmellow: :marchmellow:

Sorry to hear of the loss, I would not know what to do if someone took off with Dakota...not that it would be that easy. He has been the best:rock: When he was a pup we had a micro chip inserted.
FYI, Rottie's do rather well indoors, and in the heat of summer, do not fair so well outdoors, furthermore they make great protectors of the property when allowed to be established indoors, as well as become part of the family.
I rest assured, that when I am at the Firehouse for 24 hours, Dawn is well protected when I am away. We crate train our dogs, and follow a book written by the Monks of New Skete...from the selection of of your pup, to "finishing" your K-9. http://www.newsketemonks.com/dogs.htm

I have a client who keeps rotties. he has these like KENNEL cages he keeps the dogs in. they are spacious , and made of chain link. these dogs are very well maintained. and damn nice...........they seem very happy , good lookin pooches too! the owner has to give the "he is ok" command to the dogs if the dont see you often...........would not wanna get stuck in the cage:argh: also there is a door between the two cages so they can hang out together.
