What is the coating on the Bassani Headers Part# 83000C. Is it Jet-Hot? Says ceramic coated on their site. Reason why I ask is about melting inner fender issues. Anybody had problems with melting and or coating itself failing? Curious, after what I discovered from Jet-Hot today.

I just took off a set of Gibsons due to the Jet-Hot coating coming off. Coating on there was Extreme Sterling (1,700F). Guess our EGT's are higher than that. Anyone know what kind of EGT's our motors put out NA? I did not have any melting issues and would like to keep it that way. That is why I want to know about the Bassanis and melting. Thinking of getting them instead of the Gibsons. Just want to know if they are going to start melting stuff. They look to protrude out alot further and closer to stuff than the Gibsons do. I appreciate the input. I need to make a decison on what to do. Looks like the truck is going to be sitting headerless for at least a week and a half.

Long story short the Gibsons need the next best coating and have to be sent to another facility in OK. I have to pay half the price of the coating and all the shipping costs. I think it is kind of Bush leauge b/c the PA facility (where they are now) said the Extreme Sterling should have been fine when it was put on a year ago. Now they are like, "Nah, Viper engine gets hot, seen this before with coating coming off." I would have liked that information the first time around.

I've had my Bassani's for 4 years and no signs coating failure or heat damage under the hood. I think the heat problems occur when the after market tune is too lean.

I had Bassanis on for two years, never had a coating or melting issue of any kind. I was very pleased with them.

I have had mine for two years. I had one problem with the coating. A quarter sized piece had flaked off the driver side. I called Bassani and they did recoat it for me under warranty. I had to cover shipping there. They covered the way back. That was 1.5 years ago and I haven't had a problem since. It did take them a month to get it done. If it happens again I will run it to a local guy that does ceramic coating.

Thanks for the input. My Dad called Bassani today and spoke to them about the coating on their headers and mentioned the Jet-Hot coating that was applied to the Gibsons. The Bassani people pretty much said that a 1700 temp should be more than enough and that the coating was most likely not applied correctly and that is why it failed. Jet-Hot guy says otherwise but may just be trying to make a buck. Jet-Hot says it is because it is a Viper engine application and it gets to hot.

I greatly appreciate the input. This is driving me nuts. Just have to sleep on it on figure out what I am going to do at this point.

Things for me to ponder:
1. Pay about $330 to get the Gibsons upgraded to a better coating
2. Have the Gibsons recoated with the Extreme Steriling, pay shipping only
3. Order Bassanis, get Gibsons recoated and unload them
