Bassani headers too close to A-arm mounting point

Hey All,

I just installed a set of Bassani shortie headers today and heard a vibration at low rpms. Turns out, the passenger side headers are hitting the upper a-arm mounting point when the motor vibrates too much.

I'm entertaining two options. #1 take an extension and a hammer and put a dent in the header tube that is contacting the mounting point. #2 use a plasma cutter to cut 1/4" off of the a-arm mounting point. I'm really leaning towards #1 because the old headers I took off of my '69 Camaro had this done for the same reason.

Any suggestions?

Jim

I say option #2. Just shave off a little on the mount and your good to go.:burnout:

I am going to be installing a set of Bassani's on my neighbors 05 RC on Monday. Hope I dont have that problem. :dontknow: Let us know how you fix it.

This is now the second post of Bassani's inb the past week not fitting well, the other was on a 06... I think anyone looking at headers may want to take this into consideration.

Understand how the 06 fit was off but there shouldnt be an issue on the 04's or 05's . Mine were tight but no clearance issues.

I would put a small dent but you should calculate carefully to keep from having a serious dent or several small dents ;)

the part touching the a-arm mount is right at the weld where one of the tubes meets the collector. Not sure if I should try and dent this area.

some thing isnt right, you shouldnt have to do either. its your call, i would do option 2, or option 3 is to call Bassani on Monday, i have installed several sets of their headers with zero problems. they may have knockd their jig out of spec.

04 RC just installed Bassani's too

Other than the GDMF manifold to mid's bilts, no problems. I just looked and have about 1/4" clearance there. Not a lot of tolerance if the jigs moved a little and your a-arm mount went on a little tall.
Check your motormounts too.
I'd take the header off, and hit the tit of the a-arm mount with a grinder.

***UPDATE***

I don't know how to edit my first post but I have an update. The headers fit perfectly, it was my fault. The three bolt clamp that connects the headers to the mid-pip was contacting the frame of the truck. I loosened the three bolts, rotated the clamp, tightened the bolts and fixed the problem. It was completely my fault.

Boomer, tried to PM you but got a message saying your pm box is full. Yes, I ordered a shifter the same time I ordered the headers. I was just wondering the status.

thank you,
Jim

They do hit the upper a-arm frame piece on the 06's, I had to cut about 1/4 inch off to make it fit.

I also wronte to Bassani, and got no reply.
