when you turn your key to ACC what does your battery read "voltage wise"

and what about when the truck is running ?

For some reason about once every 2 months I crank my truck up and the voltage is extremely low. It will trigger a gauge warning. Then I wait about 10 seconds and the gauge goes to the normal 14 volt. Where is the battery/alternator sensor for the instrument cluster? I notice that my power steering doesn't work when this happens as well. I have to wait for the voltage to shoot up then I regain power steering.

Your problem will be a slipping serpentine belt if you are also loosing steering.
