Bearing noise? Grab reverse instead of 5th?

While on the highway last weekend, I started noticing a trend. When going straight or turning right, there was a very slight vibration and associated noise, when turning left it went away. I could not pinpoint the exact location, but it was definitely affected by turning force. Even a quick swerve in my lane to the left made it stop. 98% sure it is front, and 80% sure it was right side, associated with the wheel (bearing?).

Also, while cruising in 6th, and approaching a hill/traffic near Knoxville, I went to grab 5th and grabbed reverse (or at least tried to to the sound of a coffee grinder). I thought there was a lockout on that? Sounds like an adjustment is due down there.

Don't know about grabbing reverse, definitely sounds like wheel bearings. If you can hear it roaring, replace ASAP.

Your reverse lockout switch solenoid is out bud. It'll need new.
It is indeed a wheel bearing and they're about $125 or so including speed sensor. :burnout:

For bearing, I think I'm looking at bearing and hub, 52070323AB. This is "standard" for this era Dodge Ram, not special for SRT, is this correct? And besides a dealer, any reputable sources? I see $80 ones on ebay. Not sure I want to go 140 mph on a low quality hub.

For reverse lockout, looks like you get the housing and solenoid together. Stock Code 68029168AA. Does $160 sound right on this?

Yep, replaced mine on the 10 and my '02 Ram 1500. No biggie unless you let it go too far, then the wheel will fall off. Oh me.

I know the hub price seems cheap as even lifetime warranty autozone are $125 I think. Solenoid sounds about right although I haven't had one In years myself and never go into reverse gate but that's me. It will not let you go into reverse at all, just give you a grind saying" this ain't gonna work ";)

Don't believe there is a syncro for reverse. If you hit that gate at any speed it will grind! Shouldn't hit that gate easily! I struggle to get mine into reverse... stopped! I think the SRT wheel hubs are the same as the 2500..... might be only the 04........I seem to be blabbing!!

On every T56 I own I remove the plunger inside the solenoid as it makes getting into reverse a pain as you're fighting against a spring loaded plunger. It locks above 5 mph to prevent you from even being able to hit reverse. When solenoid goes out they can be in the out position and really make the reverse gate a biatch! :burnout:
