Early this morning I was on my way to Ihop to pick up some breakfast. And guess what I see in my rear view mirror, a very clean 300 C srt 8. It was hard to tell if it was a srt 300. Than he passes me. It was a real young guy probably only 19 or 20. He brought along his homie also in the front seat. So I'm going about 30 or so and he pulls along me and says you wanna run Man!! we had a good stretch of road All Clear. I said sure man. So here it is he honks 3 times. I drop it in second and just f**kin nail it perfect. At about 77mph I put it back in "D" Approaching 80 Mph. Dude was about a full car length behind me all the way up to 105 or so and than he gets close and I just Back off at about 115ish. And than he pulls up and asks Dude are you stock??? And I'm like Yeah Just broke in the motor it has about 2500 miles on it. I didn't tell him anything about a stage 2 Flash. So What do yo guys think If His friend wasn't riding in The passenger seat with him He would have beat me? I mean The extra weight of his buddy.

think this goes in racing...(EDIT: someone fixed it. ;)) but anyways, unless his friend was over 300ish

At 70mph he got lit up then he doesnt know how to drive.

70 is a nice sweet spot for the SRT8 and he should have tore you a new one.

Well how much did the friend wiegh?100 lbs 500lbs? How much did the added wieght change the P/W ratio of the 2 vehicles? Where you traveling up hill or on flat ground? On flat ground the higher the speed aero drag is more of a factor......lots of questions....something to think about.. did it matter.. probably not..Thats watchoo wanna hear right?.....

I'm surprised at that, I've raced my folks SRT-8 Charger, I can pull it out of the hole by about a full length and hold that up until around 80 when they start closing the gap, at 95 we were even and at 115 they had me by 2. This was when I had 900 miles on the truck, I have 3800 now and it is running better all the time. They have a great upper end. I have the stage II and magnaflow exhaust.

Looks like he weighed less than 200 lbs For sure. I Only saw half of his body.
Anyways I'm assuming They are slower than the charger maybe.

Nice kill. You got the advantage by dropping down into 2nd. The truck was more responsive due to that. So you probably got the jump and then just stayed ahead or even. He probably just went WOT and had to wait for his to downshift. Doesn't matter, a kill is a kill.

:withstupid: my wifes charger's tranny if a wierd character, some time it shifts hard sometimes it overrevs and hits the rev limiter and studders before shifting. depends on how hot the engine is i guess. havent quite figured it out yet. we normally try each other out on the way home from work and they are real close for now. i tried my brother on his mercedes with a v12 the other day from a dig and it bogged real bag but didnt let him pull away from me. i think the traction control kicked in. i agree from 70 to 140 they pull like hell.

Hey Eddie.......don't know if this is related to your issue....but, there is a TSB out on my Jeep GC SRT-8 that I am having done this week. The GC wants to bounce off of the rev limiter sometimes and sometimes IMHO shifts a little on the "lazy" side. The are supposed to reprogram the TCM. A few guys with the GC's have had this issue and reprogramming the TCM has helped.:star:

Yeah Flying low your right! That 2nd gear is a killer it is hella responsive.
When I'm in D it Lags feels takes longer to get a downshift.

The only way we can know this for sure, that is if the weight of his friend made a difference would be to do this. Go back do this allover again and have his friend jump out @ 77 mph and see if he pulls on you..

60 is the sweet spot, 70 isnt youve got to down shift it manually it wont downshift above 60 +- and you only stay in 2nd for a few milliseconds 5800 rpms at 70. 20 and 60 they pull like mad! I flippin hate the tsb they put in my tranny! turned my manual tranny into a automatic, VERY PISSED, MADE ME HATE MY EIGHT!

Did you actually drop it into 2nd or did you put it into Tow/Haul?

Nope I really put it in 2nd and than mashed it. It was a Perfect take off to.
I would say Pretty damn close to a full car length that I pulled on him until about 105 or so.
