I was in 3rd about 45mph and the steering got tough, volts went down, and A/C was not working. About 7500 miles on the truck. Is this pretty normal?

Not normal!!!! Check that the bolt in the center of the harmonic balancer is tight, some have found that it is finger loose, and if is, it can cause serious problems...it is a little tough to get to, but reach up with a socket and get it on the bolt and then attach a torque wrench...or just a rachet...if it is loose, get it fairly tight and take it to the dealer immediately and tell them what you found...

That's my guess!

Let us know what you find!

Thanks it is at the dealer now. I will post up the outcome but I was told on a previous service that my vin# was not showing to have that recall... Guess they were wrong!

Sorry to hear that man.I had mine checked a couple of days ago and it was tight.Torqued it a little to 130 lb/ft.

I was going to check it efore the Nats but forgot.Makes good sense since this is a fairly common issue with the motors.

I`ll bet that is your problem.Let us know.

To my knowledge DC never issued a TSB or Recall on this. Could be wrong on the TSB. I'm sure someone who knows for sure will post up shortly.

I think you are right Silverback. This was one of those things discovered by an owner who posted here, then others found the same problem...

It was the crank pulley bolt!

Yep, I see no reason why we need a TSB on this problem.

SOP

Does my correct diagnosis qualify me as a Silverback apprentice 4th grade?

I hope they checked out the balancer too. When mine was loose it messed up the balancer enough that it had to be replaced.

Very happy that it didn't harm anything else.

I am taking the Viper in the next couple of days so they can check it out too. I only have 3400 miles on it. 7000+ on the truck
