Belt Slippage under Boost..

Well... I knew one day it would happen... it took nearly 4000 miles on the SC install to get belt slippage. But I noticed over the past week that I started slowly losing boost levels.... this morning I was not able to make more than 3lbs of boost... and with the window down I was able to hear the tell-tail sound of the belt slipping.

The original install would not allow me to put the larger idler pulley on... no matter what I did the belt would not go on... so now maybe since the belt has stretched some... I can get the pulley on... and fix my belt slippage issue...
 
I remember on mine, I put the larger pulley on included in the Paxton kit. It was a PAIN to get the belt on, but finally did it with a few guys lol

Didn't have belt slippage...

I think you have a good idea, put the Paxton pulley on now, and get the belt over it.

turbos dont have pulleys and belts:p

I expected this problem to occur sooner or later.. (hoped for later...) but its a fairly easy fix.. probably take me about 2 hours to fix...
 
Be real carefull about adding additional tension on the belt. It will raise hell with the other systems bearings.
 
don't make it too tight. you'll smoke the bearings in the other pulleys, possibly even the crank bearings.
 
I fixed the problem this morning, it took me about 2.5 hours. It took a little wrenching with the larger pulley to get the belt on.

But I still have some tensioner spring left, and no slippage!! :D

I am back to making about 7.5lbs of boost. Woo hoo...

I just took my truck out and exercised some boost around town. Forgot what it feels like to roast 1st and 2nd gear.

Pulled out of my driveway and my neighbor down the streets kid with his 2000 something Mustang GT was behind me. Had to give him the unmistakable catless Corsa exhaust sound at near full throttle and uncontrollable wheel spin in first and second gear (feathering the throttle between roast and no roast (tires)) to make sure he knew I could roast them anytime.

Next time he speeds down our street he'll know I could easily pull out the truck and get on it (loudly I might ad) in front of his house.

Damn I love this truck!!

Its not any tighter than what it was when befor the belt stretched and started slipping. As I mentioned, its not "super tight", I still have travel in the tensioner so it can work as it needs to.
