I want to remove my belt and inspect it/ change it. I have noticed a squeal lately, and I suspect it is from the belt. How do I relieve tension on the belt? I looked it up in the big PDF manual that I downloaded, but I am not sure I understood it right.

Do I just loosen the 15mm nut that mounts the tensioner? How do I get tension back on to the belt? Just retighten?

Thanks

that 15mm nut on the tensioner roller just turns against the spring......... you apply pressure one way to get the tension off the belt..... swap the belt & use that 15mm wrench to pull back the tensioner arm & put on the belt.....
i found it easier to remove the air hose from the air box to the throttle body to get to the tensioner........
good luck.

Having a Roe, he doesn't have to bother with the air box and tube.:D

Also, the tensioner nut needs to be wrenched clockwise to release tension on the belt.

Thanks for the replies.

I figured it out eventually. I did not realize that the pully bolt was left hand thread, so I was afraid to put a wrench on the pully to apply the needed pressure to release the tension.
