We're putting a new crate motor in the Vette. We are going with a ZZ4 350 from GM Perf Parts.

Jack (FSTJack), John (Silverback), FASTJack, etc :dontknow: -

....... I know some of you guys have raced Chevy's before and built a few, so I figured I'd ask here. What brand of headers have you liked (build quality being key). The main thing is going to be FITMENT. There are quite a few big names that make 63-67 Corvette Specific Headers out there.... that's going to be what I need. Also, the mid-pipe from the collectors back to "stock" rear section would be EXTREMELY helpful. I really don't want to get rid of the "side-exhaust type, rear-exit" setup I have now. ;)

Thanks in advance for the help. :burnout:

Doug thorley;) Had some on my 96' whipple truck they were a nice:rock:

Kooks Headers is a fairly new custom exhaust company that will build you an excellent set of headers and mids. Probably not cheap but the highest quality.

hooker headers if you're on a budget, decent headers, headers are a pain with the 350's though, plan on using a open end wrench to install and remove the plugs

Yeah... I know. :argh: But, the factory manifolds are REAL restrictive. It'd be a shame to put a fresh motor in there and hold it back with crap manifolds. :( :dontknow:

But they don't leak :D Look at some GMC/ Izuzu box van manifolds with the 350 engine, 3" center dumps.............Did I say I hate headers:D

Actually, they will pretty soon... They both have a hair-line crack in them. :( Instead of paying for new "stock" ones, I was just seeing what my options are.

jake,

i'll ask my dad what headers he's using on his 68 vette,it is a 327,but if i'm not mistaken those should also fit a 350:dontknow: for sure

Yer right, Jerry... Plus, it would save a LOT of headaches trying to make the rest of the exhaust (that I want to keep) fitting... I might see what Paragon wants for a set of stock replacement manifolds. :)

Yep, same block (basically)... Our car has a 350 in it now anyways. Just found that out a few months ago, when I ran the number on the block. :argh:

i had lemons on my prostreet nova

I paid Dan Lemons 1800.00 for a set of direct fit headers for my Chevelle.
They would not even come close to fitting, Dan said "OH Well" and would do nothing for me.

I really do not know what header I would buy, without a lot of research. Most headers hang down too low and are always dragging on the collector in the Vettes I have had in the past.
You might go to a Vette forum and see what most of the guys are running at this point in time.
The last 3 sets of headers I have had (other than the Lemons) were custom made stepped, merged collector style.

Sorry I cannot be of more help but I just don't know what is available currently.

yep +1 on that.

Jake if i had the money for nice headers on my monte carlo i would get the Lemons hands down...But i didnt so the hooker comps worked out ok for me

Try JBA. They make shorty headers for the elder vettes. They offer them in stainless with a Ti coating. I had a set on my 96 PU with a 350 and they worked great, never leaked, flanges never warped and the finish held up really well for a daily driver.
