best product to remove tree sap

What did you use?...sounds like the sap did get thru the clearcoat to the paint..
 
i used wd 40, goo gone, turtle wax bug tree sap remover spray, cleaner wax, clay bar, dish wash soap, and mineral spirits. This got the bumps tp go away but you can still see them. I then tried to give it a coat of wax by hand and they still show. it looks terrible:(

That sucks man, You might try a professional detail shop for some info.
 
"Off" brand insect repellent will work great. The first car I owned was a kia optima and while I was deployed to Iraq it sat under a tree. It was literally covered in sap and a few animals made the engine its home. I tried everything that was recommended....WD-40, goo gone, dish soap, commercial bug and tar remover, etc....they didnt work. Then I got some off bug wipes and the sap just dissolved. I washed and waxed and it looked good as new again. :)
 
I run a detail shop and the best I have found for tree sap removal is a product made by Norton Called adhesive remover. I get it at the local auto body paint supply stores. WHen other sap removers won't work it always has. It will even soften up sap that is dried and baked on. Otherwise you can try mineral spirits and in a pinch gasoline.
 
I think sand paper would do the trick, unless you care about saving the paint :p :p :p Good luck :D
 
If you send me your address via PM I will send you some limeonene, it is what 3M uses as the base component for their adhesive remover...if it does not work, you will need to remove the clear coat with wet sanding...

My wife's company created the product for 3M...

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, I dropped the truck off at the body shop

monday and I will be picking it up later this afternoon. Hopefully they

managed to get the stains off.

Prof, i have some cans of the 3m remover. Is limeonene the same thing?
 
Limeonene is the basic component. If you still have spots let me know...

thanks bud, really got give up to my body shop they do really good work. They are real friendly with me and always go the extra mile.
 
THIS is probably what they used. That is what I use on my vehicles if they get some spots or stains that I can't get clean off via the usual means. I use the Porter Cable 7424 DA orbital with the white foam polish pad.
