Nice catch.Caught several last spring in Delaware Bay on circle hooks baited with whole sea clams. Amazingly smart fish-- after hooking it actually lays sideways against the tide to make it difficult to land. Unfortunately, the larger it gets the less edible--kinda tough and stringy.

fish was released to swim agian ,,,it is over sized to keep here 250 fine and loss of fishing equipment if caught with it in a cooler ,,if you got one that big lol,,,to much to clean but a horse to reel in ,,,caught on 15 lbs test ,,,weighed in at 44 pounds

We call em Jack fish
You might know them as Northern Pike.
