im a big stickler for making sure my vehicle is running perfect, so i always watch my gauges very closely. i noticed the oil pressure was bouncing around a lot. didnt matter what rpm, turning or straight, going or stopping. it was just all around. i know it wasn't a malfunction in the sending unit cause i also have a autometer manual gauge installed. it isnt low on oil, and its not due to be changed. it's fairly clean. im lost. only thing i can think of is the pump. anyone else had a problem similar?

The oil pressure gauge will move under normal driving conditions.
It's usually around 45-50 psi at idle, then any touch of the throttle will raise it to the 70-75 psi mark.
That's totally normal for these engines.

I'm guessing this is out of the ordinary "bouncing" as apposed to normal oil pressure fluctuation. when a pump goes bad, it usually just drops pressure. something could have gotten sucked up against the oil pickup maybe?

its goin from 65ish to about 15ish for a second, then back to 65-70ish for a minute or so then back down again. both gauges are doing it. i dont think anything could have gotten picked up. i just changed the oil and it looked pretty clean.

if its going from 65 to 15psi you have an issue...especially if its doing it on both gauges. You said you just changed the oil, did it do it before the oil change?

no i meant i just changed the oil. havent driven it yet. i changed it today. we'll see in a minute if it helped

Remember, only 8 1/2 quarts in 04/05 trucks and I believe a little more in the 06's.
