Billy Boat exhauat help please

Hey Guys,

I just bought a srt 10. It is a 06 and had 1,100 miles on it. I just purchase a billy boat cat back exhaust, but it was for a 04-05 model. Bill said he changed the last hanger for me, so it would work on my truck. Well today when I went to have it installed the pipes going over the rear axle did not line up with the tail pipe section. My trucked has some kind of lowering kit on it from the last owner, not sure what brand or how much drop. The guys at the shop had to cut the pipes re-bend them and weld them to the tail pipe to get them to work. I was curious if anyone has had the same type of problem with a lowered 2006 srt 10. It makes sense that the exhaust would not line up because of the change in height from the axel to the bottom of the truck, but my search on here has not brought me any answers. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Mine bolted right up. Then drove to the muffler shop and had the last hangar welded on.

so the only difference between the two models is the exhaust hanger? what makes it different? location, height, an extra one?

I'm worried about the the axel moving up and hitting the exhaust when I hit a bump or the brake line melting because it is really close to the exhaust.

Anyone else? I was going to wrap the exhaust tomorrow in a heat wrap to protect the brake line. I'm just worried about how much the axle will move up and down under regular conditions. I don't want it to hit the exhaust. Other than that it sounds amazing.

just measure the gap from the axle to the bump stop & add an inch to an inch & a half.

should be pretty close to what the travel is

BUD, I was so excited to get my B&B last year, and turned into an install nightmare. Same place ur having issues with I did as well. Exhaust shop had to modifiy the rear hanger's on the truck and exhaust to even get the crap to line up and look good. My truck is not lowered either. A good exhaust shop can make it work tho if you are willing to let them modify that expensive ass BOLT on kit.

Oh they did...it’s on and looks really good just worried about the axle hitting and the brake line. I thought the Billy Boat exhaust was just two pieces, the tail and muffler sections? Mine had four different sections. the reducers from 3" to 2 1/2" up front, muffler, bending pipes that go over the axle, and the last tail pipe section. Everything was slip fit connections with ring clamps. The guys at the shop did a good job, just concerned about proximity to the axle and brake line.

Your B&B experience sounds like my Mopar experieince. That thing didn't lineup for $hit. My shop ended up reworking all the tail pipe sections. And they made three new hangers. The guy who did the work told me bolt-on kits at least half of the time have to be reworked -- don't know why?

Same thing my guy told me on my Chally exhaust He had to fight with it a little bit to get the tail pipes lined up. But no cutting. Just had to wrestle with twisting all the pieces till it lined up right. He fought with it for so long, getting it perfect, I tipped him an extra $60
I did the B&B on the truck by myself in my garage. Just had to go see him to get the last hangar cut off and re-welded.
