Blew A/C Line...

When we were re-installing the radiator, we nicked the smaller A/C line.. and were concerned that it might have weakened it.. well tonight after work I am sitting at a stop sign in traffic.. and pooooff.. a bunch of white smoke comes from under the hood...

Of course my thoughts were... holy shiet... motor just went.. but then listened to motor and it sounded fine.. so I thought.. gee maybe it was a coolant line that came loose... or she overheated... was sitting at about 180.. so that was not it.. turned it off for a second.. and listened.. and heard the high pressure hiss... and then the smell... knew exactly what it was at that time....

At least it was nothing serious... I wanted to replace my lines with custom made ones because we had to somewhat relocate them for the S/C install...

Glad it not 115 out and at a point where I "need" the AC... so I have some time to fix it.. and the line is in a easy location to fix also...

You never need A\C with two windows down and 150mph

What kind of custom hoses are you thinking. You going braided or whats the thought

Am thinking some type of braided stainless and AN ends.. maybe I can retrofit the existing lines where they are metal and weld on AN fittings...

I don't want to say plain jane, because there's nothing plain about braided stainless. But are you going braided with color or natural :dontknow:

I dunno yet.. since my SC is polished, I may go "natural", but also if I can find black or red.. that might look cool also...

I made several adaptors when I did the A/C system like that on my El Camino.
I'll do the servicing of the system if you'ld like

Yuck. That compressor oil is some slick shit. Tough to clean up. I had to bleed mine off when I pulled my engine, and still made a bit of a mess even being careful...

I feel for you.I had oil all over my charge cooler and firewall from my blowoff valve shooting oil out.

Not nearly as bad as a high pressure line bursting in the garage while doing a service. I still find specks of flourescent oil years later. Maybe I should clean more often:dontknow:
