Well, it happened again. The torque converter I got from Rusty at TCS, this is number 2 from his shop, went out again and you guessed it, burned up another tranny. Pictured below is the clutch from the converter. This thread is not about Rusty, even though he does not back up the crap he builds and sells and would not know the truth if it hit him in the face (he lied numerous times to VENEMOUS1 as well as me) but about a specialty shop in Bossier City La., PATC Transmission. 700R4, 700 Raptor Transmission from PATC, 700R4 4L60E 48RE 4L80E

They were recommended by Scott and I got to spend the day with these gentlemen while they rebuild my transmission. Honestly they made me feel like one of the family. I got there at 8am and left at 4:30pm and had the run of the shop. Got to watch the man building converters, the installer and his helper remove and reinstall my tranny and best of all was invited to watch the Barry the rebuilder completely rehab my tranny. Even sat in the office with the GM and sales guys and listened to them interacting with customers.

Sometimes weight reduction can cause problems in our trucks. The converter Scott bought from TCS was a 10â€￾ whereas the stock converter was 13â€￾. 12-15 pound reduction not only on the overall weight but also on the weight the motor has to rotate to get the truck moving. But-----much higher heat and possibly the cause of my tranny failures. You would think the great genius Rusty at TCS would know this but the 10â€￾ is what he builds for our 10’s :dontknow:

This is one of the most enjoyable days I have spent in a long time. Not only did I learn a great deal about the workings of my transmission but not a foul word from anyone in the 21 man operation. No bad mouthing another shop or vendor and no criticism of anyone. They did their work as professionals and were most courteous at all times. Even you 6 speed junkies would do well to look at the web site. They do it all. Best of all, they back up what they build and sell.

I really thank Scott for turning me on to this company. On the 230 mile trip home I averaged 2 miles better per gallon, thanks to a torque converter that locks up and loved the much more positive shifting. They put is a 727 billet steel drum that increase the clutches from 5 to 8 and it really shows in shifting from 1st to 2nd. They did not try to sell me stuff I did not need. No overdrive clutches and recommended not to go to the billet shaft and 3 disk clutch converter for the way I drive. They did not try to sell me the full blown overhaul. You don’t get to a 15 million a year business by overselling and lying, unlike some we know in Arizona.

Sorry for the ramble guys but like to share positive feedback when warranted. Goodness knows we get a lot of negative here sometimes. Again, I ain’t his clone and he don’t walk on water but Scott has come thru for me again. I would have most likely sold my truck had it not been for VENOMOUS1 and his constant encouragement and patience. :D:rock::D And yes, his traction bars, he recommended I NOT purchase them as my driving style did not warrant the expense.

I am one happy man.:rock::rock:
