This will be a quick initial post - I'll followup with details, pics and video after I get things put away, etc...

I ran my SRT this week on the saltflats at Bonneville in the USFRA Speedweek 2009 130 club. You can read more about it here:
http://saltflats.com/I30_Club_2009.html

Long story short, you need two 1 mile, standing start runs over 130 to get in the club. It sounds easy until you do some homework on traction in the salt. I liken it to a hard packed dirt road with some fine dust on the surface, but it's definitely a traction challenge.

After my calibration run (should have been 100, I ran 100.876 mph), I ran a 129.915. I was psyched as I knew I could do a little better.

I backed that with two runs at 131.554 and 131.511. :congrats:

I was easily the heaviest vehicle there for the 130 club and I loaded up the back of the truck with everything we brought to give me some more rear wheel weight for traction.

Anyhow, more to follow when I can. :D

sweet!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the final run, long and unedited. Sorry for the dark cab, but it's tough since it's SO BRIGHT out there.

I'll see if I can edit it better. You'll see 3 important banners on the left go by. 2, 5, and 1. 2/10s, 1/2 mi, and 1 mi. Then I circle around to the timing shack. :)

would make for an awesome vacation.

great class/club.

ummmmm, lol.:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

Thanks, I appreciate it! It was a blast. This was a combo of my 40th birthday and a father-son week! It was planned that I would drive on my 40th, but between the weather and some timing gear issues, it was a couple days late. Still, an awesome time.

Also, I drove the SRT there, with no support vehicles, from Phoenix. Trailers are for wimps. :) :D

Thanks! I should have been more clear - I'm the son! :) Dad's 73 and still going strong.

We took turns driving on the way back, and unfortunately he got a timeslip of his own on the way back... He's part of the 90 mph club. In a 70 zone. :argh: :congrats:

Your time slip is unique to say the least,Your dads(not so much):D

 Thank you!

I know many here wouldn't due to the salt alone. :) Mine's meant to be driven, and I certainly did! :)

The list is pretty short of who's made it:

As of this post, they don't have the 2009 folks up there yet. I was #26 to get it this year out of about 80 entries I would estimate.

It was about 700 each way for me... well worth it, even if you go as a spectator. I don't know of too many forms of racing where you'll get million dollar teams next to a garage team in the pits. :) :congrats: And you'll have access to all of them.

VERY COOL!

The best part was your DAD! He sounded very excited and proud. You cannot put a price on memories like that! Congrats!

Thanks - you hit the nail on the head there - he was way more excited than me even!
