Bonneville Speedweek 2009 130 club

I'm so jealous!! I hope that I can get there someday. Maybe my son will take me if I make it to my 70's. Your a really great son to have done that with him.

Thanks - I really appreciate that!

I would highly recommend it - not much prep/safety requirements, not expensive to run, your biggest bill will be fuel getting there!

Dude that is awsome congrats:rock: That is a dream of mine, not to break any records just to do it, like you did:burnout: :burnout: Awsome man congrats. Any info would be great this something I would really like to do.

Thanks! Most of the info you need is on their site. What I can offer up for our trucks is:

1. Our tires would not normally be permitted - they are too wide, but they make it through tech because they are original equipment. On the salt surface, it seems to be all about contact patch pressure. The consensus is to run as high of an inflation pressure as possible.

2. They are strict on the letter of the few safety regs they have for the 130 club. Driveshaft hoops for each section of the driveshaft. One 5 lb or larger extinguisher, not (2) 2.5s, metal valve stems all required.

3. Traction is minimal for takeoff. I added as much weight as I could - probably 600-700 lbs in the bed of the truck. That helped takeoff. I liken it to a hard packed dirt road - no way you can just nail it from a standing start - you will dig two trenches!

4. Be patient. Have a cooler with you so you can stay hydrated because you'll spend a bunch of time in line.

And be prepared for some wow factor - "I just raced on the salt flats" ! :)
