Brake issue (Completly stumped)

Brought my new truck home from Oklahoma City last week (2005 RC) and everything was Aces!

Went for a hard run in the hill country and after a hard launch taking a corvette from a red light the brake pedal now chatters (rachets) but ONLY at low speed (under 10MPH). And it sounds like it is only coming from the drivers side front area. My buddy is a service tech at Dodge so they have been going through it. The brakes have been bled and some excess air was taken out. (The dealer I bought it from must have flushed the brakes as the fluid was almost new in color). Took the rotors off and had them measured (too thin to turn again, but measured runout and they are in spec. Pads look almost new. This truck has a paxton and the boost guage must be broken as it reads 30 on the vacuum side and never reads boost. The hub bearings had a VERY faint noise so we replaced those to rule them out. We disconnected the wastegate vacuum lead and tried it again. Still getting the chatter in the pedal. Verified with the diagnostic computer the ABS modul is 100%.

I have new powerslot rotors and yellostuff pads coming soon and need to get this fixes so I don't mess up the new equipment.

Do not know what fluid is in the truck but going back with Motul RBF 600 when the new SS lines and rotors are installed.

The caliper functions correctly, or at least the pistons extend and retract without any issues.

This has several techs stumped as well as me.

make sure there is no dirt between the axle and the rotor or the hub face and the rotor! all 4 should be checked!

I would assume if it was warped rotors you could feel it at all speeds not just under 10MPH? Also getting the truck up to 30MPH and shutting the truck off and applying the brakes the chatter does not occur, only when the truck is on.

Just a shot in the dark, may not be your brakes. You may have that shutter problem that zcx had. It was the oil by pass valve, gave him some funky noises your describing, just a guess though hard to diagnoise on the internet:eek:
 
another thing to think about is a sticking caliper....After my truck sat for months mine stuck but released...I'm still going to rebuild them anyway.....

Checked the calipers, they seem to be working as they should, no sticking.
 
they def are in the rear axle,

two upgrades, one have the spider gears cryoed, alot of guys have really had great success,

then we also got with DTS axle and designed a new drop in axle assembly, strange axles, detroit locker, virtually bullet proof and comes with wilwood calipers so you can mount 15 inch rims.
 
also check the rear calipers, the park brake pads inside the rear rotors, possible they jumped outta adjustment, not likly , but stranger things with these trucks have happened

I've ran into this on many vehicle, when your slowing down around 12km/h ( don't know mph) and your on the brake, the abs will activate. The problem usually is one wheel speed sensor reading differently than the other three. The easiest way to check this is by hooking up a scanner and watching the wheels speeds and see which one is dropping off while the others are still moving.

The causes for this are:

Faulty wheel speed sensor
Broken/half broken speed sensor wires
Faulty tone ring inside bearing ( sometime too much grease causes this)
Bad wheel bearing.

You mentioned you had a bearing noise did the problem stop after you replaced the bearing?

did driverside first passenger side not in until monday. couldn't see that the new bearing helped at all.
 
The way u described it to me sounds like feedback from a bad mAster or brake booster leak pulsing the pedal or speed sensors from hub area.
 
I had the same problem with my 06 Dodge ram hemi. Took it to firestone they jacked it up even more. Eventually turned out to be the ABS module. They also camp up with a chunk missing out of my caliper and some other
sh1t. but thats what fixed it. but mine would shake above 75 and around 15 and below the brake would shutter a little.
