Today I finished installing Stinkers coils and wires. While I was at it, I also installed a JMB catch can. I also have a ROE breather installed. After the install, I now notice little puffs of smoke coming from the catch can breather and the ROE breather. Is this normal since the intake is no longer sucking in and doing crankcase ventilation? When nstalling the JMB catch can, the instructions say to remove the PCV hose from under the intake and cap off the intake. Thanks for any help. :)

lol i think my relief valve is stuck closed.. an am going to be fixing that soon i hope:rock:

The smoke you are seeing should be vapor. Vapor is normal as long as it is not excessive. If it is constant you probably have excessive blowby which indicates issues.

Before my rings seated I saw a lot of vapors coming from the filters...Now I will have some vapor when the engine is cold. I rarely see any once it fully warms up.

The vapors under the hood will get into the cab. You probably wont notice it but if you come home and your wife says you smell like gasoline you know where it came from.;)

It's light puffs and it still does it once the truck is warmed up. If it was exceesive blowby, wouldn't I have noticed oil residue in the TB, when I replaced it last week? It was pretty dry.

Would think there should be residue in the TB..:dontknow: ....Do you blow any oil out the filters? Mine did before the rings seated...Does it use any oil?

I've had the ROE breather on for about six months and haven't noticed an oil or smoke coming out of it. Now that I'v installed the catch can and capped off the intake manifold, I notice the light smoke/vapor. It uses very little oil. Maybe around 1/2 - 3/4 of a quart bewteen oil changes (every 3,000 miles).

Mine does the same thing from the catch can breather, but not from the Roe valve cover breather. Just slight little vapors, even when warm.

You probably didnt see it before because the intake sucked it up...oil consumption is within normal....watch and see if oil starts blowing out the filters...especially after a WOT run.....The "light smoke" you see may just be due to a lot of moisture in the air...

Thanks for the response. Makes me feel a little better, knowing that this may be normal.

Its normal. My is worst in the winter than summer. Just wait till you drain the tank. I get some bad smelling water/oil stuff out of mine.

It's normal stuff Bud ... Started mine today and after it warmed up little puffs out the catch can filter, but it was also 36 deg. outside. How cool was it in Fla. today?

About 65 degrees.

I'm relieved knowing that this seems to be normal. :) It had me a little worried.
