So this car was hauled in from the owner with 24k miles and it's second locked up engine. He'd recently purchased it and drive 15 miles before 2nd engine grenades. Install was a complete hack and part of the reason it locked up. So after tear down it was discovered pistons 3+5 gave their life for this engine and one wedged in cyl. stopping engine for good.
He didn't want to forge although warned a few times, but he didn't expect a engine rebuild after just buying the car and driving a few miles down the road :(
We installed new bearings throughout, two new rods and pistons, did some headwork as they were battered as well. Installed our SC grind cam with new rods and springs. Basically a fresh 488 with a Roe strapped atop. Did some powdercoating, painting, chroming, and now she's headed to the 4th parade :)
621whp/631rwtq and this little 488 Gen1 scoots :)

Gen 1s are forged from the factory and are rather stout. Surprised to hear such troubles at lower PSI. 8lbs? Any porting of the heads? The Roe lower manifold can really be opened up for a lot better airflow.

I would ditch the hot air intake and what's up with the box zip tied to the plug wires/heater hose:dontknow:

Yessir seen them hold 1000 to the wheels with snails. This one goes back to the instant boost and sudden dynamic compression change if a twin screw and although forged, not room for tuning error. Speaking of it's part of the Roe piggyback system and just haven't velcroed it in place yet, or chosen a place.
This car was beyond a nightmare when it arrived. A spark plug tester on 3 which possibly helped detonate that cylinder by lack of full spark under boost, lol.
Wrong plugs, basically looked installed by a child. Did I mention this was the 2nd engine? lol
Heads had to be repaired and milled slightly which we didn't need but opened bowls up to compensate. Runners were slightly opened to port match. I agree with the runners to a point as being forced induced they don't flow horribly. NA yes!
On 3+5 there was scorching matching the pistons the melted into the face of combustion chamber.

Retarded, I mean retired, on a limited budget prohibits me owning one of these beauties but man I can dream. Looks great Scott and sure it runs as well. :D

Hopefully he's running an adequate fuel system for the power. I had to run a BAP once I went over 5psi. Currently running 2 255 walbros @ 10psi.

It's on a single Walbro as of now. It's gonna be a Mrs. car so he claimed he didn't want it any faster, lol. It'll remain on low boost I'm sure
