....to make a short story shorter. Laptop on the arm of the recliner, at work, tones go off, I jump up to answer the radio and Kablam! The laptop is on the tile floor. How do I go about getting it fixed? Dell? Duct Tape? Super Glue?
It still opens and closes but you have to be careful. TIA.

Yeah i was thinking of gluing it but just making sure that is my cheapest route.

eeeeh.... what is superglue going for these days.... $2.50? :dontknow: :D :p Yep, that would be cheapest. That piece is part of the "screen" on a laptop. The screen is usually more expensive to replace than just buying a new computer. :(

I know glue is the cheapest route but didn't know if was okay for the computer. Plus I hate having broken stuff. But oh well.

I know what ya mean... I hate broken stuff too. :( My (older) Dell broke at the hinge as well a few years ago. I glued it and it still works fine. :dontknow: It's ugly tho. :D

Pm RedSRT007 or NTWRK both are computer dudes or Iltemprd, they all should be able to help ya, or jsut JB weld it , helll jsut take it paw, he can weld it for ya:D

I should! I'll just give it to Dad and he can whip up some JB Weld and it will be good as new.

The main hinge-piece is metal, right? .... The other part is plastic? .... That's the way mine is anyway, but like I said, it's a few years older. :dontknow:

Where it is cracked is plastic.

Is the metal hinge broke too?
If it is replace it, thats usually the only real support for the display.

Don't know if I'd trust just the plastic hinge cover?

i just replaced the hinges on my HP. Cost me 47.00
from HP.

But ductape could work too!:D

Sue the department! They have great liability coverage...

They won't hold it against you...they ought to make those tones a little less startling...it is just cruel and unusual to have to be disturbed when you are relaxing like that. People can just do without you for an extra ten or fifteen minutes...

Not.
