i was spoken by a guy yesterday at a car show nearby ...:

he claims to have broken his axle of a front wheel driving a long curve without hitting something ... ofcourse with a crash following...
The wheel hasn't any damage and the axle broke were the bearings are...

He's now in discussion with Dodge but they don't want to warranty that because the truck isn't officily imported in Belgium...

Anybody heard of such mal-happenings ? He told me the front axle is just a thin hollow tube.... :dontknow:

PS he was there with a Countach....

Two possiblilities.

It had a manufacturing flaw that was not caught. Bad news, as there my be others out there in the same condition.

If you can, post up some pictures.

The second possibility is that it had been damaged in the past, and choose that time to fail.

I'm leaning towards the second possibility.

I am confused?? I didn't think we had front axles???

If is not a power driven wheel why would there be an axle??:dontknow:

Was he road racing??

I would think there would be alot of strian placed in this area with the 22" wheels??

This is the first I have heard of this problem!!

Keep us posted!

Slam72 had some kind of front end prob on his SRT

Dodge had a recall out on the front hubs of the trucks, I dont recall what years.
Bearings are not servicable in the hub(you cant repack them).
Only solution is to replace the hub. It's not hard to do. Remove brake components & unbolt 3 bolts from backside of spindle.
hubs are the same on all 1/2 ton trucks whether they are the SRT or 4x4 whatever as long as its a half ton.

I thought the SRT-10 was built on the 3/4 ton frame??

the recall was for 2006 dodge ram 1500. the front wheel bearings on about 85000 of the 2006 dodge ram 1500 may have been manufactured with an insufficient amount of grease and could fail.

repair is to replace the left and right front wheel bearings and hubs assemblies must be inspected. wheel bearings within the suspect build date range must be replaced.

the date range is located on the outer edge of the hub and is 05306 through 06091.

Are you sure about this? I know a couple companies had drop spindles for the 1/2 ton, but they wouldn't fit our trucks.
