Bump steer kit

I tried doing a search but came up with very little. So who has this installed? And how do you like it? Who sells it? etc....
 
bump steer kit? Like a steering stabilizer shock kit? Any offroad place for sure would sell a steering stabilizer kit,so Im sure a vender here should have or can get one.

it's steering end links that a vender from here made.

How do steering end links stop bump steer? Do they get rid of the slack and tighten everything up? And do they work,the bump steer is a little different in these trucks!
 
I had my bumpsteer kit made, I got a soucre noid for a kinda different deal, jsut not sure of it, but looks cool on paper:D

What I am looking for is any info about the front steering rod kit. I have a QC so I don't have a rear sway bar. I read something about it along time ago but I cannot remember were. Thanks Mike
 
I have these both on my truck, front and rear, hey make a world of difference if u have lowered it. :rock: :rock: :rock:
 
we need a set made ASAP , the BS is very evident on my dropped QC 06 . was installation difficult ?

As many of you know I was the first to develop a kit specifically for our trucks to mount the steering linkage to the bottom of the spindle. If you are not familiar with it you can check it out here:

Well after much research and some time behind the wheel I have decided to abandon the bumpsteer kit. There are several reasons for this but first lets talk about design.

The main component of the bumpsteer kit is the rod end. While rod ends are used in all kinds of applications from aerospace to F1 racing to equipment design they are at best maintenance items.

The conventional tie rod on your truck was designed to last at least 100,000 miles. Even the best rod ends would only have a life expectancy of maybe 10-15,000 miles.

Rod ends have a tendency to fail without notice. It is suggested that you inspect them at least every 3,000 miles.


My bumpsteer kit was designed with a safety washer so that if the rod end ever did fail it would not just fall off, but that washer is still of questionable safety.

With these facts being known I do not believe the liability of me selling or having someone install one of these kits is worth the return. I could not live with the fact that someone damaged their property at best, or personal injury at worst, with a component that I knew had the possibilities of failure.

Now some will argue that these rod ends see severe "race duty" every day and that is true, but remember race cars are torn down and inspected after every race. Will you do that with your truck every day? Race cars have all kinds of safety equipment and are designed to protect the driver ala roll cage. Does your truck have these?

I now see there are other companies marketing bumpsteer kits for our trucks for $89. The best rod ends available are NHBB / NMB. Aurora is considered the second best rod end made. All other makes are distant from these two companies. A NHBB rod end with the deign capabilities for our trucks will cost over $100 each, the Aurora over $50 each and you need two of them. So for a complete kit to retail for $89, I would have to question the quality of the rod end.
Before you buy any bumpsteer kit I implore you to do your due diligence and see if this mod is right for you. Is it worth your safety? There is a multitude of info available right here on the internet. Use it.

If you use your truck for racing only or are willing to inspect the steering linkage daily then this is a viable mod.
If your truck sees higher mileage and you will not inspect it I would suggest you pass on the bumpsteer kit.

Fred thanks for finding that info.

What I noticed in the pics is that the original position is on top of the spindle. hence the angle.

With the kit installed it is now located at the bottom. Is there more to this kit? Is it possable to just relocate OEM part from the top to the bottom?
 
maybe a solution could be utilizing the stock tie rod end and drilling out the spindle and placing a spacer in to fill the viod. this would take the tie rod from the top and place it on the bottom thus creating a mopre straight level tie rod end possibly reducing the bump steer or even elimnating it. I think this would work and still be safe.
