Copied from an email, but worth a read!!

Sorry to our brothers and sisters from different countries!

To destroy a country. Destroy their economy from within. That is happening to us now. China started it. Then the companies that want more money for their stockholders. They moved out of the good Ol' USA. If we don't stand up now it will be too late.
My physics teacher in high school, Mr. Wooley, once told us that while one grasshoper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American.

Check this out. I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments. They were all made in China. The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA. Start looking.

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job. So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track. Let's get behind her!
My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more. My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico now. I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything.
This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off brand labeled, "Everyday Value." I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland, Ohio.
So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here.
So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets...yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada. The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!
My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!
If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!
(We should have awakened a decade ago . . . . . . )
Let's get with the program . . . . help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U.S.A.

3 weeksn in US, couldn't find a f...ing Harley Davidson T-Shirt or Jacket made in US, all China :-(

at least I got a T in Madrid Spain made in US!!

My buddy in Thomasville, NC showed me all the closed furniture factories because they moved the production to China.

last April I bought an Ampeg tube amplifier and cabinet made in US, one of the very few left since they all moved the production to Vietnam, sorry guys it's in Italy now :)

PS: aren't our trucks made in Mexico?

Some thought is needed here. Look beyond where the items are made, and look to the American Companies that have made the decision to outsource the manufacturing to other countries.

If we are indeed capitalists, protectionist policies and poorly conceived contrivances are not the way to success.

If we want solutions to our manufacturing malaise we need to look at ourselves to find the problems. And maybe we do not want to be a manufacturing society, we are rapidly moving away from agriculture, possibly the movement away from manufacturing is another step in the maturing of our society. Focusing on buying American made materials is just addressing a symptom, it is not addressing the problem.

If we had all decided to just buy American vehicles, would that have avoided the demise of the American auto industry? I doubt it. The issues were and are systemic. The same is true of all of our manufacturing processes, IMO.

WOW. Pure irony.. It always seems to be among us. To be blunt about what I am saying is that this forum really isn't the milieu for a discussion about buying strictly American. All of our trucks that seem to be the initial binding element here were made in Mexico. Meanwhile, the Viper was originally of European design. We all know this. But points were indeed raised in Scot’s post. Generic name brands like “Great Value” should be focused on more since they seem to be made here. But are ALL of he materials in such brands essentially FROM the USA? Looks to me like this is going to require some extra time for us to be lingering in the aisles.

well, should I buy 100% Italian made stuff, pay it 5 times more and support our economy, or get a china one and support my personal economy?

Yes, they are... :( Unfortunately, the only "American MADE" truck available these days (if I can remember correctly) is a Toyota. :(

At least the motors are still coming from the factory in the US right. This comes at a weird time for me, I have been looking at the viper mainly because it's a US car made in the US but just how true is that on a 06.

Add in the crap the Obama car czar did to a number of local dealerships though it breaks my heart to support the few remaining ones that might have gotten by with a little bit "help".

I buy Italian made Ray-Ban sun shades and Bertolli olive oil. I would buy your family's secret pasta sauce recipies too.

I was thinking the same thing.

its not that the stuff is made in china or mexico, its the price that kills, its in our nature to buy cheap, i dont see anyone parking their vehicles all our fuel comes from a foreign country, all the big corporations care about is money, screw the consumer, look at detroit, u tell me they cant put their heads together and come up with a more economic and fuel efficient vehicle, so we as consumers will always go to the foriegn make because in most cases it is cheaper. i do believe in american products, i just dont have time to read the labels, i bet u did not know one of the highest selling car in asia last year was a chevy.

Everyone is scrambiling for our consumer ($) dollar I think with fuel and shipping cost's , it is better to buy american , saves energy , plus helps the usa economy , however , a lot of people have their monies vested in foreign economys cause the return is greater , due to the rate of exchange , and of course the weakining american dollar.......:argh: also I believe our trucks were assembled in mexico not made in mexico...............:dontknow:

:eek:HOLY NUTTY FUDGE NUGGET, that just made me double over :laugh:laughing... :( But I'm crying inside.. I'm crying..

Well I don't know where this guy is buying his Hershey bars from, but the ones I buy are made in Hershey, PA, and I'm only a stones' throw from old Mexico hehe.

Anyway, I think in today's world it's tough to know where the jobs and money are going. That light bulb company he talked about could very well be staffed by people that are not Americans, I don't think that would be a big surprise to anyone. And the profits the company makes might just be sent offshore. We know that happens all the time with "American" companies. IMO the only true "American" businesses anymore are small businesses owned and operated by local folks. So if you want to buy American, support those businesses. It may cost you a couple extra bucks, but in the long run it may well save your way of life.
