C5 Z06 Highway Pull

A '99 or '00 Z06 w/ 70,000-100,000 miles on it won't do that, tho... And, I think those numbers were pretty ambitious for the 385hp cars anyway.

they did not make z06 in 99 and 00....they were FRC's, but had the standard ls1. in 2001 they went to the 385hp ls6 then in 03' went to the 405hp ls6...so if it was a 99' or 00' FRC (fixed roof coupe), its not too hard to believe..depending on your mods...that you stood toe to toe with one...

when i had Django 2...(S/C 04' RC SRT10). i also had an 03' z06...my brother was driving the z06 and i was in the 10...we went from a roll..about 55 or so i think...and the 10 put a couple cars on the z06....

The ONLY reason I would buy a base C5 is because they have the targa top.... I like my fresh air. And, I can easily make them faster than a stock Z.

On my C4 vette, when I took the targa off, the car felt loose. Like the top was definatly structural. Are the C5 vettes any better?

Ok, I have first hand experience with C5s and C6s. The C5Z would be a great race with a RC, should really be a drivers race! Both should be mid to high 12second rides. The FRC as said, will have it's ass whooped! I own one and my QC will take it! Just by a hair! Now I have beat an AUTO C6 LS2 from a dig to 100 and kept a car on him. C5s are not that fast period unless a ZO6. Not only do they have more power, but also have an MN12 tranny which is alot shorter geared tranny compared to the normal MN6 T56. ALmost like having 3.90s in the rear already.

OP, I think you had a good race with possibly a Z car, but regardless as many have said, he wasn't in his sweet spot, but for the record, neither were you. WIth that said........................Great KILL!:rock:

That's why you get a FRC ( Fixed Roof Coupe) or a ZO6 as both DO NOT have removable tops period! They are the lightest and stiffest and carry a perfect weight split front to rear. The PERFECT car! Even new C6 owners miss the C5 and often go back but add the C6 powerplants:dontknow:

Niice kiill forsure......I had played around with C5 vettes, nnever. A C5 Z06 though. The C5 vette. I ran couldn't hang at all and I know forsure hhe had at least exhaust.

Sounds like its not THAT hard to believe depending on driver and mods...

Thing is my truck only has OffRoad Mids, and a Magnaflow Cat-back.... stock otherwise... and its an 04 so runs 4:10 gears.... I was pretty happy to be anything but walked away from! LOL:rock:

I sometimes wonder if the 4.10s aren't the perfect gear ratio for our trucks. It seems they can trap a couple mph more in the quarter vs. the 4.56 trucks. They get to hold the important gears alot longer:dontknow:

So I see a yellow Z06 in front of me on the highway, and I say to myself... "lets see if i can interest him in a little fun"... I get up next to him and he slows to about 65... after cruising side by side a bit I start a 3 honk... we both hit it, and i jump him a little bit simply because i hit it first... he then stays at or behind my rear bumper until we let out well into triple digits....

JUST KIDDING! Great kill man. Sounds to me like an older Z06 vs a RC is a drivers race. Obviously you were the better driver.... You have better taste in vehicles too.
