Has anyone installed the Cal-Trac bars themselves? How hard were the spring eye bushings to press in\out?

Tough if you don't have a press. The whole rear/end comes out, the bubble is on a jack the two leaf springs are on the ground and your about to ask him if your going to need a "re-alinement" when he's finished.
Not brain surgery, but without the right tools....maybe a alley you don't want to go down...

Must have a press.....if you take the springs off yourself and take them to a machine shop you can do the rest in an hour....

We have a semi-shitty press at my shop, just pondering whether it's something I want to tackle myself. Being a tech, I have a huge aversion to paying anyone to work on my stuff if I can possibly do it myself.

Thanks for the pics Quick, did you notice a big difference in traction?

Shouldnt be harder than doing control arm bushings on an e39...

I'm loving it now that I got rid of the part-throttle misfire (sparkplug) and fixed the horrifically lean factory jetting. Pipe and jetting probably added 10 hp, made it a whole new beast:burnout:
Just starting to get comfortable with the riding position\style - way diff than the sportbikes I've been riding the past few years. Now I just need to learn how to do a decent wheelie - the bike is more than willing, but my stupid survival instincts make my wrist close the throttle when the front wheel gets about 2 feet off the ground, even though my brain is telling my hand to keep it open.

How you likin the Katoom?

That's about all we use it for, so I guess I'm alright:proud:
(goddamn, we have a lot of smilies)

I think the biggest thing we noticed was she stopped "wheel-hopping" in the rear/end. The wheel-hopping seem to be more of a problem after we lowered her.
CalTrac's fixed that in a heart-beat  ...so in answer to your question, traction is an elusive thing but yes I think these help... there better than the stock traction/bars.

Did the same...new y pipe and cans....new jetting and POW...it is very forgiving and simply lays over in the corners...At 80mph you feel alot of wind in your chest but I rarely keep it at those speeds....mostly just messing around the twisties in the canyon and going to get coffee...
