cal tracs installed

ok first after fighting with brackets that were not drilled out to fit & other small flaws the bars are in.

Must say from a dig very big notice for sure, and even while rolling they bite harder also, def a great mod in my eyes.

ok so cal-tracs went on like book said, leave a air gap between pin and leaf spring, also did all front end bushings and sway bar bushings.

now it seems my alignment is out :dontknow: Is it the bushing having to seat in or what. anyone else have this issue before ?

ya have to get an alignment when the front bushins are replaced

Dude the cal-trac book said 2 different things to do.

pain in the ass, it said to adjust bars intill there is a airgap between springs, then lock down and let pressure off of the rear.

I did that and the pins are pressed on the leafs with pressure.

if i remember correctly, your supposed to start off with a gap, with the truck sittin on level ground, driver in seat, i like to do this kind of adjustment or front end alignment, with a half a tank of fuel.

adjust till the roller touches then start with a 1/4 turn load & adjust as needed from there. think i have mine at a full turn, 1 1/2 at most

be best to get the cal tracs adusted then have your alignment done.

but yeah, Stinkers poly bushins & cal tracs are a great mod:rock::rock::rock:

Yep, that's how you do it. Enjoy the banging on rough roads Worth the annoyance though. I think you are also supposed to have someone adjust them with you sitting in the drivers seat, but how do you do that if there is no one to help? Didn't seem to make much difference on mine. Did it both ways.

You can always adjust them later.....there just not as effective if not adjusted properly.....I have yet to really adjust mine!

just went with black, my truck is black so that worked out.

ok so the rough ride is normal then ???

taking the truck to get a alignment this weekend coming, the ride is so bad as of right now.

and then we will put the truck back in the garage and play with the bars some more, but they seem to be putting traction down pretty good.


Just so I know for my own records, what are the 2 effects of the bars.

1. being to loose
2. being to tight ??

if they are loose they do nothing, but rattle

if they are tight, then they will bind the rear axle and the ride will really suffer

to adjust you need to have someone of your wiehgt in the drivers seat

now you can adjsut them to about 3/4 turn from touching and the ride is not too bad, but on bumps they may , depends on the bumps, rattle jsut a bit
