I thought about getting caltracts. I don't know how much of a difference they will make. I can get 1.9 60's if I roll into the launch and keep it in 1st gear. What kind of 60's are you getting Chris?
 
My 60 is in the 2.2 range. Never lower than that. I lowered pressure in my tires to 29psi. I guess I'll have to try a lower number.

I talked about this on your other thread. Try dropping to 25 psi and heating the tires a little.

NBT said that he loves his CalTracs. Said they help a good bit! Also keeps the truck going straight if he does spin.

No more walk to the left when heating them up in the burnout box after the Caltracks.
Set them when your in the seat, on initial install.
Pre load them at the track, and Mike taught me to load them a bit more, and I have no more break in second gear at the track. For now...:D Going to be a bit more difficult this season I believe.... Will be picking the truck up from ROE the first week in Nov....after my trip to hunt camp.
ROE did however tell me that the truck would be done on Wed... but I am not going to make two trips, when I will be coming back from WV/ OH on the 31st.
22 psi was the magic # for me at the track here.... I did start @ 28.... and then dropped them 2 psi at a time till I got to 22 psi.

Will do....we pull out for West Virginia Friday night for our Bowhunting trip....hunt all week....we will go from there to Toledo on the 29th. Process our venison in the commercial kitchen we have at the barn Monday evening........leave on the 31st sometime afternoon/ evening. It is about a 16hour drive from Toledo to Jacksonville..... Should put us at ROE on Nov 1st
sometime in the early morning/ noonish depending on our departure time from Toledo. Probably try to shootout of Toledo around 6pm...that way I can look at some property while in Toledo, see the family, and pack the truck with the meat...equip...ect.
 
CalTracs are the way to go.
The truck handles, rides, and is all around better after the installation of the CalTracs.

Why after the CalTracs I am even better looking. ;) ;) ;)

1.98 60' time on stock tires with CalTracs.

22 LBS as Ken says is the magic number.
 
Who as the Caltrac on a QC ? How difficult was the install ? i had been told that they need modification for a QC .And how about the compatibility with X-Metal lowering kit ?

There are no modifications necessary with either a RC or QC. The hardest part is pressing the front spring eye bushing out. (They are replaced with a solid bushing that is much easer to install with a press.) Take the springs to a machine shop for that part of the job. The springs are heavy, 98 LBS per spring. The job is not too difficult but it is much easier with two people.
 
1Fast....boomer put a set on my QC....you could contact him at X-Metal, the truck has his lowering kit on it as well. He might be able to send you some pic's, if not I'll do it later this coming week when I pick it up ......

Hey thanks for the info ,Gary told me a while ago that the Caltracs where not compatible so maybee that as change , he was talking then, about some special bushing ...so if it comes now complete and compatible with is kit whitout any modification for QC im in . Gary if you reed this and it works PM me with the price ,you should have my billing info .

i hope its compqatible, boomer just sold me a set, havent installed them yet hopefully on night next week
 
I have them on my X-metal lowered QC....when Caltracs first got started with our trucks there was a problem with them as they thought the RC and QC had the same springs.....just make sure you tell them you have a QC and your are golden....man...they help....:rock:
 
i cant remember price butt ill let you know how the install goes, probably take two days, ill have to take the springs out one night since i dont have a press at home.other than that the directions look pretty simple, was trying to wait until my headers made it so i could do them the night i took the springs out. boomer said it was about a 1.5 to 2 hour job on headers
