I thought Roy's (prof) was the first with the Roe kit?? I remember meeting with him back in 2007 and I believe that is what he told me.

Could have been ! Im going off memory ! Ken should know for sure or shine some light on it .

Long haul lol
Just excited to get this truck looking the way I want, hoods next and it’s the closest yet 6 hour round trip. After that I just need a navigation bezel and dado to fill it. Then I’m guessing maybe find someone to make me a stroker motor out of this and rebuild the trans because it feels smoked as well

The 48 re has a few flaws that may help .. most have 1 , 2 shift problem that needs the kick down throttle cable to be adjusted . Its a very fine adjustment ... other things are the govenor on the valvebody and changing it when doing a trans service and filter may help .. any idea when the trans was serviced last ... check the trans fluid and smell it to to see if it smells burnt and not clean and red looking .. pull the trans pan and check for clutch sediment and metal shavings ... thats rebuild time if so..

Check the valve cover bolts for loosness and snug them up may stop a valve cover oil leak

If the trans needs work or build ,,,, @rottenronnie has lots of knowledge on the Re48's ... maybe he will chime in and give you more insight

What do you plan on doing with the hood on the truck ?

So the truck has an after market shifter in it and when I shift the truck it feels very corse if I had to guess the previous owner replaced the stock shifter thinking it would fix this issue. From what I’ve seen online it has to be rebuild to fix what I’m feeling. I haven’t checked fluid yet.

The gasket is literally flacking apart if I touch it areas, I was thinking I could check the torque on the head but I really don’t think that help.

I’m going to keep the hood that’s on the truck I just want a stock option or the other way around.

So your a manual trans .. SC not a QC

Replaceing the valve cover gasket is a simple job and doesnt cost much ..

Lots of people changed the Shifter since the stock Shifter is difficult between 2nd and 3rd gear. Stock shifter is Hurst. Mine has an X-Metal Gen-X that definitely took care of the 3rd grear miss. I kept the original too

If I remember there were some adjustments that could be done to the stock Shifter that helped the issue - I would need to do a search, but some went with B&M, X-Metal and JTS versions
