Does the outer metal sleeve of the stock bushing need to be pressed out ? Its flared on both sides ....so far no fun

Yea it is a bitch to get out, and it almost seems like there bushing was not even made for our trucks. It was hard to get there bushing in. It was not a very easy install.

Thanks for the feedback guys....also got a call from Boomer :D

Anyway, yes, a huge PIA....Unless of course you have some specific tools. acetylene torch, chisel, large hammer.....

I dont see how you can use a press to get the stock bushing out. There isnt enough lip on the leaf spring to use as a base for the press.

Ended up taking a sawsall and cutting a half inch piece out of the sleeve (after I burned the rubber bushing out with a propane torch) then pounding (for awhile) on it before it came out.

The Caltracs bushing went right in with the press.

Soooo, its only half done because I didnt expect it take that long to get the bushing out. The rest of the install is a piece of cake.

Got to go back in tomorrow or Friday to finish the other side.

Appreciate the offer Mike (1fast400), I wasnt expecting it to be as big as PIA as it was and figured the local shop press would make short work of it

Finished the rest of the install today :D The other side went much smoother after learning the tricks on the first one.

I havent had a chance to get on it as I had a bunch of spare parts in the back of the truck on the ride home. It did seem to ride smoother :dontknow: , could be my imagination. Will test it out some tomorrow, should be heading to the dyno (finally) to do my winter tune. ;)

That's weird that you had an issue. We pressed them right out with no issue at home. Not sure why it was so hard.

Just had access to a standard shop press. Would guess if you had a fixture it may be easy to press out but without one, there isnt enough lip to hold the leaf spring without it slipping out.

Still used the press to remove the center bushing so I could burn the rubber portion off ;)
