caltracs - not impressed.........

wildman

I installed my Caltracs last weekend and I can still melt the tires at will. I can tell a slight difference but not what I was hoping for. I never had any wheel hop before, just spun. I still have to be very carefull not to get too aggressive off the line.

along with my caltracs I also have the clamps from justi on there, dont know if it helps but every little bit counts

Sounds like you may want to recheck the leafs and u-bolts. There shouldlnt be any difference in height although the fuel tank is on the drivers side and if full can affect ride height. You also shouldnt be able to turn the arms with your hand. Keep enough tension on them so they're at least snug and torque the lock nut.
you bring up two interesting points:

what do you mean - recheck the leafs & u-bolts ? i know they're in straight/even & torqued to factory specs of 110 ft lbs........

also, i was mostly empty fuel wise when i did the initial setup & fueled up afterwards..... i'm guessing that may be where the 1/2" drop on the driver's side is coming from..... ?

i have been thinking about caltracs but now maybe i will stay stock

BIG MISTAKE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they help alot ,,,,, caltracs have been proven time and time again

ofcourse you are still going to spin in first,,, we are putting down alot of power at least the RC guys are:D :D :D :D If you feather the gas in first you can tell they help alot. Also keeps the ass from sliding side to side .

i'm wondering if it is possible: is there a right & a left leaf spring or are they interchangeable ??:dontknow:

i'm not sure that i put the same one in on the same side......

the oem leaf springs are the same left or right but not sure about the caltracs. i would think that there is no diffrence between sides but im not sure.

ok, thanks.......

do you think a full tank of gas would bring the driver's side down a 1/2" from the other ?

Thats 182 lbs, get in on the passenger side and see if it levels out?
