Cam Help!

My local mechanic who is installing my engine, installed my cam to Top dead center....will this be ok? or does the cam need to have a few degrees of advancing or retarding. if it does need to be degreed..what are the pros and cons of leaving it at tdc...a little power loss, catastrophe? thanks for the help guys

It should be fine straight up, degreeing is good but not necessary.
