Can we use this?

I'm thinking about changing my T-stat and I don't know what type of coolant/antifreeze to put back in. I saw this at the parts store http://www.pro-blend.com/coolsys.htm and I was wondering if anyone has used it?
Can we use coolant only and not antifreeze?
What should I use to replace the fluid I will drain out for the T-stat change?
Would it be worth it to drain all the fluid out and just put in new fluid ( I have about 24K miles right now)?

that stuff works good, I use it in my race car but it has to be changed a lot, and you only use it when racing. there is no corrosion protection so if you leave that in the engine too long it will corrode the block. it might not be as bad in an aluminum block but my car has an iron block and it rusts fast.
 
To answer if you should or not, I would. The fluid that is in there is supposed to be life long, but as GM found out it isnt. It never hurts to change the coolant.

and it depends on whether or not you use blended or straight coolant, you should have a mix of about 50/50. Some coolant manufactureres out there have the blended allready and you just pour it in.

As far as the pro blend? Man I dont know, I tried it once years ago and dont know if its the same stuff, the stuff I tried what white and milky, kinda gooey, and it honestly worried me about cloggin up the system.

But that was years ago, you might try it some people say it really works , it would be nice to find out.

but other than that just go with a reputable coolant, and some dont even need the water as in some of the life longs, just read a feew bottles and find out what you think is best:D
 
You ought to keep a 50/50 mix. Advanced sells coolant that mixes with all types and is an extended life. Part # AF1100 and yellow in color. I use it in all the Powerstrokes and Cummins I work on. Have it in all my vehicles. When you change it make sure to use distilled water with it. Tap water has all sorts of minerals in it that is not good for aluminum parts.

REFILLING COOLING SYSTEM - ALL GAS ENGINES
The use of aluminum cylinder blocks, cylinder heads and water pumps requires special corrosion protection. In
order to maintain the required protection for these components and cooling system performance, only use the
appropriate fluid (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/FLUID TYPES - DESCRIPTION) when servicing the
vehicle. This coolant offers the best engine cooling without corrosion when mixed with 50% distilled water to obtain
a freeze point of -37°C (-35°F). If it loses color or becomes contaminated, drain, flush, and replace with fresh properly
mixed coolant solution.

WARNING: ANTIFREEZE IS AN ETHYLENE GLYCOL BASE COOLANT AND IS HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED OR
INHALED. IF SWALLOWED, DRINK TWO GLASSES OF WATER AND INDUCE VOMITING. IF INHALED, MOVE

CAUTION: Use of Propylene Glycol based coolants is not recommended, as they provide less freeze protection

The cooling system is designed around the coolant. The coolant must accept heat from engine metal, in the cylinder
head area near the exhaust valves and engine block. Then coolant carries the heat to the radiator where the tube/
fin radiator can transfer the heat to the air.
The use of aluminum cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, and water pumps requires special corrosion protection.
MoparT Antifreeze/Coolant, 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula (MS-9769), or the equivalent ethylene glycol base coolant
with organic corrosion inhibitors (called HOAT, for Hybrid Organic Additive Technology) is recommended. This coolant
offers the best engine cooling without corrosion when mixed with 50% Ethylene Glycol and 50% distilled water
to obtain a freeze point of -37°C (-35°F). If it loses color or becomes contaminated, drain, flush, and replace with
fresh properly mixed coolant solution.
CAUTION: Do not use coolant additives that are claimed to improve engine cooling.
CAUTION: MoparT Antifreeze/Coolant, 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula (MS-9769) may not be mixed with any
other type of antifreeze. Mixing of coolants other than specified non-HOAT or other HOAT coolant, may
result in engine damage that may not be covered under the new vehicle warranty, and decreased corrosion
protection.
COOLANT PERFORMANCE
The required ethylene-glycol (antifreeze) and distilled water mixture depends upon climate and vehicle operating
conditions. The coolant performance of various mixtures follows:
 
I found Prestone with the HOAT cert and it's pink for the extended life already premixed 50/50. Don't mix the colors if yours is green.
