Canadian Two Dollar Bill

While at a car wash this weekend, the guy in front of the line was trying to pay with Canadian money. In the process of trying to get the cashier to take the money, he said on the Canadian two dollar bill, the flag flying over the Parliament Building is an American flag. So Canadian's, true or false??

Had my wife send me a picture of the ones I have as they are mint condition and in plastic protectors. The flag isn't an American flag, but it does look like it at first glance. The flag is actually the "Red Ensign", I found out after doing a bit of research. If made small, like on the two dollar bill, or any other bill it was on, looks to be an American flag. The Red Ensign was what the flag looked like before we went to the red and white maple leaf flag (1868-1965). So to answer your question, no, it is not an American flag.

1996. I remember when they came out, I was in the 4th grade. I also remember putting them in the freezer and then dropping them on hard ground and the centre metal separating from the outer ring. Didn't know it then, but I caught a lot of shit for doing that, because instead of getting a 10$ Bill my dad gave us each 5 toonies, and when I brought all mine back separated, I told my dad I doubled my allowance! When I showed him the money, he said that it was illegal to deface money and super glued them back together. I remember being upset about it, only for the fact I thought I had 20$ instead of just ten. Kids...

We have two dollar bills here, but no one uses them. My grandparents used to give them to us when we were kids. They told us to hang onto them because some day they would be worth more. Of course we spent them as soon as we could. The same with silver dollars.
