I was going to Hilton Head Island Friday to surprise my wife but I was the one that got surprised. I was taking it easy most of the way until I got passed the bomb plant (srs) when I came up on a straight away so like everyone here I got on it for a second. I looked up in the distance and saw a white Durango I realized that it was not just an ordinary Durango when the blue lights came on so I pulled over and was thinking to myself I should have just went to work. The officer walked up and ask if I had a good excuse for running 93 in a 55 and I just told him I was going to surprise my wife in HHI and as he turned around to go back to his Durango he looked at me and said that's not a real good excuse. As I waited to go to jail he came back to my door and said that this can go down three different ways I could take you to jail and give you 800 dollars worth if fines, get three different tickets for reckless driving or give you a warning. (You know what I was thinkin). He gave me the warning and asked me if the cruise control worked and I shaked his hand then he walked back to his Durango. Needless to say I drove the speed limit the rest of the way(almost).

Its my experience that the LEO's understand...thank God for small favors!

They have a thankless job and still find a way to be good guys.

Some of us LEOs are cool like that...:D
You are right on the some:D

Most cops are just guys like us....writing a warning for doing almost twice the speed limit is beyond the call of duty...you were lucky...

I have 2 statements for you:

1) He was a Dodge man, thats why he let you go.

2) You needed to change your underwear, because the pucker factor was at a 17 on a scale of 1-10, and thats no way to spend a romantic evening.

Why can't I find that kind of officer when I get pulled over? I'm always very nice and respectful with "Yes officer or No Sir". Always put my window down and both hands on the steering wheel. I'd of ended up with the $800 worth of fines, truck impounded and sitting in jail next to Bubba.

Glad you were lucky with this one.

I think you have to be very lucky to get off light when seriously violating the law.

The LEO's have a job to do...and when they let someone off, I bet that some of them think: "I probably should have taught that guy a lesson...I hope I don't have to scrape him off the highway next week because I let him off light!"

Being courteous is always mandatory...these guys have no idea who is driving a vehicle they pull over...they are on edge from the start and should be. Imagine pulling someone like Scoob over...what a scary situation that would be!

Understand we all play...and eventually we all pay. Plan on it.

I have been in that situation before...and it was not a good feeling knowing i had just stopped the guy several days prior. :(
