I have been looking to get a JMB catch can for some time now, but couldnt see spending $130 on one, even with it being powdercoated. They are all over ebay, jegs, summit, greddy, anywhere you wanna look you can find them in just as good of quality for half the cost of JMB's. I even found some that are $20 shipped.

Am i missing something his has? Is it just me or is $130 a bit overpriced? I dont have alot of money but i have the same wants a everybody else. I can have a new one powdercoated out of Moultrie for $15. :dontknow: :dontknow:

Just to be a bit more clear, i didnt create this thread to bash anyone, i think Justin is a great guy, and i realize its hard to find vendors and such that care and do things specificly for our trucks. I guess the economy is takeing its toll a bit more on my side of the state right now, everyone where i work at just recieved 10-20% pay-cuts. I apologize if i have offended anyone here

Hey bro...i don't think you really offended anyone...afterall isn't this is what threads are for?..info......
I wish I could tell you but I don't know myself!

Haha, thanks, i have been told that members can be a bit touchy when someone questions their vendors...
Ya I could understand that...but this question is for general knowledge and I know some of us (or at least I am) are in the same story as you....times are tough:argh:
I'm sure someone knows the answer:D

I can see that his has a separate filter on top of the catch can, its just ventilated, alot of the ones i have found dont have that, but some do, and theres not price gap between the 2.

Your question is very sound....I too have wondered why his cans are so high....I guess the best way to get an answer is to PM or email Jason and let him explain........

Is it because they have that cool little filter on them? Or do they all come like that?

Thats what I have to charge for them to be profitable. Its a direct fit setup, not a universal one size fits all. It includes all the hoses (already cutom cut to fit), the right fittings, a drain, a sight glass, and an appropriate sized breather. Of course you can make anything generic work on almost any application. You can buy generic mufflers and have the local muffler shop crush bend you an exhaust to have a "catback", you can buy PVC plumbing and connectors at Home Depot with a generic air filter and have a "Cold Air Intake". Your buying American built, custom made with high quality fit and finish, thats the difference between a $20 catch can and a $130 one or a $400+ setup like EED sells. Anyone who has been around the automotive aftermarket for very long knows you get what you pay for, you can see all the time with exploding generic clutches, poor powdercoating, restrictive mufflers, etc. No offense taken here, I cant decide for you if $130 is reasonable to pay for a catch can, I just know what I have to sell them to make it worth my while.

Thanks alot Justin, im really glad your not offended by this thread, its just an open discussion with different opinions. I fully intend to support our vendors in every sensable way, i lucked out in getting my truck for such a great price, and i understand that it isnt cheap by any means to upgrade these things.
I have never ran mufflers on anything i have ever owned, until i bought Stinkers powersticks and had them installed. When buying clutches and things that can have serious effects if something inferior is purcahsed and installed, ill stick to paying more for the quality name as needed. But its pretty hard to mess up a catch can, they all come with the sight glass, fittings, and i would run steel braided lines to it no matter what kit i purchased, and it takes 30 seconds to tap a hole in the top and intall a breather.
The fact that Justin will powdercoat it to match any and everything if you want is just awesome, thats something you cant just get anywhere. I just purchase a used JMB intake that i hope he will re-powedercoat for me.

Easily said, different budgets and different opinions, and sometimes the budget can affect the opinion. JMB does great work, and i definately have plans to make several purchases from them in the future when im on a lil more solid ground with my expenses.

I like my JMB catch can because it makes sense, fits in with the design flow of the engine bay and :dontknow: it's virtually hassle free. Besides, our vendors go through a lot behind the scenes to try and make all of us happy as possible. They deserve the support.

My powder coated catch can, valve covers and hard radiator pipes were all purchased at different times from JMB...they were applied over three years...they match perfectly...he said it...you get what you pay for.

But no harm in asking...ever.

130 is a little much when I know for my BMW its 85 for the kit, but then again that's for a car not a truck

130 is a hell of a deal for it. If you have not purchased jmb products then you would not why.

your right their I haven't purchased anything from him yet

you can make your own out of 3'' pvc pipe caps, small section of 3'' pvc, a 1'' pvc threaded fitting, breather from parts store, and few brass fittings. Took me about a hour only tools you will need is drill bits, npt taps, and vodka:)
