What does it take to gut the cats...what kind of hp increase can be expected? Are there any other pro's or cons about doing this?:dontknow:

GUTTING the cats is NOT the way to do it Jim. You'd be better off with them still in tact.

Try to find a local exhaust shop that will create some catless-mids for you. Some will do it, others just won't "install" them meaning, they'll make them, but they won't install them. It's a liability issue for them.

From my personal experience if you gut them take a rod break loose the inside, blow it out run a pip through you cat the same size as your exhaust. If you don't the "cyclon effect" that happens in a hollowed out cyl. makes you loose Hp.

I believe he gained 25 HP with gutted cats and 22 HP with Catless mids..............

The air aint in there long enough to do any thing but try to get to the cooler atmosphere as fast as it can.

when i get mine I will open them ALL (4) up with a cutting wheel, gut them and take it to a welder to weld the pieces back on.

If you are in a smog area just cut them off, insert a piece of tubing through each of the cats,then weld it all back together, fools the LEO's every time and ya get cat less mids and still appear legal:rock: :rock:

I made my own,,,If i had to it again i would just bought the premade one's by jmb. One of the best mods to do for little $$ and good hp

Be ready for a loud ass truck. I hear every gear even 6th. Too much drone for my taste. Unreal throttle response and increased power are the obvious upside.
