CD's stuck again

This is the second time for this.

First was fixed under warranty.

It does have one burned CD in it.Not sure on the thickness.

Seems that the last time it happened was when I disconnected the battery to do work on the truck.Disconnected it this time to remove the fans.

I will take it out this weekend,I hope.

I think mine is fixin to go to, everytime I start the truck it makes an aweful cruchin/clickin noise, but it has not failed me yet...Hope it does before warranty runs out though:confused:

I about had it with CDs, cassettes, FM radio, 8-tracks and reel to reels.. For now iPod or any other portable hard drive media player is the way to go. More tunes in less space... until a chip is made where one can install it directly into their brian to download music to it.

The last music gizzmo I ever had got chucked out the window on Hwy 101 in 1968  Best thing I ever did :D It don't matter what it is , if it is electronic, it is not if it will die, it is when will it die, most likely sooner than later.

I just listen to the engine , now that is music to my ears:D :D

I dont know why its gonna take 3 months to get your cds back, I work at a DC servcie department, and we normally get them back from the reman facility within like 2 weeks..:dontknow: Im just waitin to see if I will need to just get a nice aftermarket with screen or not...Im just debating on weather or not to spend the extra 1000.00 bucks right now:confused:

I believe it took about 2 months to get mine back when I had it replaced. And with it the warning about burned CD's with stick on lables as the cause.

yea, they have a big tsb out about customer's using burnt cd's then complaining about the cd's jamming. they have even spoke about charging the customer for putting the wrong cd in the player. i haven't seen them make one pay, but i would not put it past DC to do that:mad:

First time was with all CDs new ,none were burnt.

It only happens when (well, twice now) the battery is disconnected .

Im no master tech or nothing, but it sounds like its acting up when you power down you BCM (Body contol module) maybe something to look into:confused:

Got them out tonight.

CDs still will not play or load, even when I push the "MODE" button it just goes from AM to FM and CD does NOT even display.

Time for a new head unit

this is insane. mine started doing the same thing tonight when i reconnected my battery after working on my line lock. cd mode wont come up and it kept cycling(like it was trying to change disc's) for about 5 minutes. even after i turned off the ignition. cant eject either.WTF!

Mine did exactly the same.

Hate to tell you this, but it is FUBARed

If under warranty take it to a dealer,if not

I was going to buy a new head unit anyway, but it still sucks that the CDs won't play

Maybe there should be a TSB from Dodge about removing the discs prior to disconnecting the battery ?
or at least a warning that could be made a "sticky" here on the forum ?

I agree. It definitely happens when the battery is disconnected with CD's in the unit. I had work done to my truck at the dealer. They disconnected the battery and when I picked the truck up the head unit was doing that cycling crap like it was trying to find the cd's. Push the mode button it would not goto CD, skipped right over it. Could not eject the CD's. Went back to dealer and got new radio under warranty and they sent my CD's back to me in the mail.

Their reasoning was that you can not use CD-R's. I say bull because it worked fine until the battery was disconnected. That definitely seems to be the key in getting the CD's stuck in the head unit. Should probably be a sticky, remove CD's before cutting power to the 6 disc changer head unit.

Just had mine replaced yesterday for the same crap,But i have disconnected my battery several times with out a problem. Then i had my battery replaced,And that is were the trouble started. They put a jumper on to save your information on the head unit,And bam that screwed up the system.

Just got back from Crutchfield.

Seems like way too much trouble to buy aftermarket from there.
They just don't inspire confidence

Maybe buy a used stock one ?
