I noticed my truck was running a little rougher in the lower RPMs as I am starting to drive it again after being gone for the past 3 weeks.

When driving (easier to see on the freeway) at lower RPMS 1600-2800 and attempt to accelerate, the engine stumbles and starts to smoke a fair amount (black)...During this time the CEL came on.....So when I got home I hooked up my scanner and found P0171, P0174 - Bank 1,2 FUEL SYSTEM LEAN.

At RPM's 3,000 and above it seems fine and runs like a raped ape at WOT.

Plan to bypass the VEC3 and run again later tonight...

Anyone else experience something similiar ?

I noticed during Dyno Day that it was smoking (running rich) just off idle. I didn't say anything thinking you had it set up that way on purpose.

Silverback's not going to like the raped ape comment.:D

thats how mine was running, before i had the throttle position sensor replaced. check the sticky on the codes.

Check vaccum hoses.
Check IM is secure, no lose bolts.
Small chance of dirty fuel filter.
Also, put a couple bottles of fuel cleaner it the gas tank.

Have you taken the VEC out of the loop yet? Possible TPS? How are the Mama's doing? Welcome back.

Took the VEC3 out of the loop...seems to improved it (just got back from a test drive)....Hard to tell if its still smoking (kinda dark at 10:00pm :D ) so will drive some more tomorrow with it in bypass.

May have to give Sean a call tomorrow.

Leticia is still improving each day...Her mom is also continuing to improve and no signs of rejection so far ;) (Thanks for asking :D )

Caliper grinding continues and may be test fitting them tomorrow.....NoS goes on next week.

You can use most every tank of gas. I just would not use it if the truck is going to sit for awhile.

Your local autozone or similar could tell you what is the best brand. Or cost effective to go to Walmart

Thanks for the pointers ;)

There isnt much for vacuum lines :D Good point on the IM, will check it tomorrow.

Have some injector cleaner in the garage...will throw it in....and need to fill up anyway.

I have another theory but need to do some more trouble shooting before I post up.

Your idle air hose to the CAI (or air intake) on the left side. I've had that come lose before or I knocked it off installing the NOS.

I would also dare to say that there is no reason to buy a $8-10 bottle of octane booster. There is no majic formula out there. Mostly combinations of different chems (meth, eth, toulene, acetone, MTBE, Xylene, Iso alcohol, etc.) and unless you know the MSDS for the chem, you probably won't know what's in the bottle and definitely not the percentage of it in the bottle.

There is also ferosene that is banned in a few states. At least it was, I don't know now.

Issue resolved :D

After talking with Sean (always there for you  ) found that there are a couple of variables that needed to be changed when running the VEC3 software on an older VEC2.

If anyone is interested in the details drop me a PM.

Anyway, it looks to have fixed it so far. ;)

Thats good news too Charles!!! :)
