Challenger Explosion 21 Years Ago Today

i remember to this day i was in front of my dads shop watching it go up,then saw that funny looking vaper trail said to my self something was not right.then 5 minutes later on the news they said that it had broke apart, that was a sad day indeed.

Wow! Thanks for the recall ;)

I remember as well and will never forget where I was either. Kinda like the Reagan assisination attempt, Desert Storm, and of course 911.

I was in a high school class of some sort for my junior year. Damn, where did all the time go? I remember hearing something about it in that class.

Funny how you remember where you were. I was a Sophmore in HS. I remember being on crutches from Football season and being in the back hall of the school when they announced it on the loudspeaker. My school had a moment of silence the moment they heard about it.

My brothers old boss was hired by Nasa to lead up the team to find out what went wrong. I was only 6 at the time, so I don't really remember.

Old fart checking in here.:( So far it's ranged from 6 years old to being a Junior in High School.

I was working on the B2 Bomber program at that time. My wife called and told me about it. Things kind of stopped for a few hours at work that day.

I was 24, I was at Broward Community College taking an IBM management class. We had all gathered in an adjoining classroom to watch the TV coverage of the launch. As soon as it exploded I knew something was wrong. It wasn't the usual booster separation. Then of coarse when it stopped gaining altitude it was evident that it was major. Then you could see the debris leaving vapor trails as it fell back to earth. Yeah, I remember......

sophmore in HS...i remember watching it with a student who had just moved here, who had never seen one go up before...he thought the split trail was cool looking until everyone around him told him it wasnt supposed to be like that....sad day

Was pouring concrete in West Palm Beach that day when it blew... unreal.

I was just finishing my first leg of my South American motorcycle trip. I was in Panama City, Panama and heard gasps from the hotel lobby. What I found most amazing were all the people who I personally met during the remainder of my trip, no matter how remote the village, were fully aware of the incident and expressed heartfelt condolences.

I was a Senior in High School, I was watching TV upstairs at home, (Not sure why there was no school that day) I remember running downstairs and changing the channel on my Grandma's TV and she got upset! "What are you doing? I was watching that!" She calmed down quickly though.

Wow! 21 years! It sure seems like it was a lot more recent than that!!!!

I was 21 in my dorm room at the University of South Carolina watching the game show "Card Sharks" before going to class......they broke in and showed the footage of it exploding......it was weird. I will always remember that day. Like others have said......like 9/11, you just remember weird details of those days.

I was at work replacing a windshield for a customer in the back of a small factory, when the customer came back where I was and told me about it.

Bill.
