Hey guys, I just installed my catless mids from JMB (Thanks a lot Justin. She breathes a lot better now.) a couple of days ago, and the CEL did NOT turn on. However, today after getting gas at a nearby Exxon, the CEL turned on right after I left the station. I checked the code and it gave me P0171 (1/1 FUEL SYSTEM LEAN - SRT10). Is this the code that pops up if you get bad gasoline, and is this something I should worry about? Or is it just now reacting to the missing cats? Thanks in advance.

Abraham:confused:

i cant help but i want to see what people post, i want to do this mod also, my first and only cel was p0456 and so far (4 days i think) it was a gas cap deal even thought i didnt put any gas in it. keep us posted! the lean thing would scare me. but ive read on here that our trucks run vary rich from the factory, which is what mine is"stock"

Abraham, did you use sims or have your pcm flashed with the proper flash to ignore those sensors?

It usually takes 50 miles or so to bring on the CEL after you remove the cats.

If nobody chimes in about the code, I would call Justin and ask just to be safe.

I used the mechanical sims that came with the pipes, but I still have the stock pcm. I had driven way more than 50 miles before putting gas at that Exxon without the light coming on, so I'm wondering if the CEL was caused by the gas or the pipes and whether it's something serious.

Sounds like it could be something other than the sims since you drove a bunch with no lights. I would error on the side of caution and talk with Justin and others here whom are more knowledgeable.

The affects of gas on our trucks is going to vary depending on where you live. There are over 30 reformulated versions of gas that get distributed through this country. Each version meets a specific emissions requirement. That is probably why some people get a CEL with catless mids and others do not. Another variable is the additive package a certain brand ads to their fuel. Those are added at the local depots that supply Shell, BP, Chevron, Mobil, Sunoco, etc. Basically all the gas in this country is refined by only three refining companies. It is shipped via pipeline through the country to the different local depots based on the reformulated requirement. The When a BP station orders 10,000 gallons to stock their station, they call the local deport are which time they add their special additives and deliver it.

You may need some sims.

I am not referring to anybody. :dontknow: Not sure what you mean. Just saying that maybe the CEL light came on and has nothing to do with the fact that the cats are deleted. It could be a completly different problem.
